yes I agree, with SO4 on PS3 too now, it is really THE platform for me know HD JRPG's |
So I'm curious, what exactly qualifies it as being THE platform for HD JRPGs?
The highest selling JRPG this gen is Lost Odyssey.
In fact, out of the top 10 best selling JRPGs at the moment, 7 of them are Xbox 360 games and 5 of those are currently exclusives, soon to be 4 when SO4 is released for the PS3.
So what metric are you using to make that claim?

"From the creator of Final Fantasy". Lost Odyssey for me is a really good JRPG that deserved the sales it got... I still think MS marketing had to do with those sales but that's besides the point.
Now, talking about the platform for HD JRPGs is like talking about the HD winner... but let's play that way for this thread...
Like you asked, we don't know the metric he's using to make the claim, i personally use a combination of quality, varitety and sales.
Of course, saleswise we can say that 360 wins, we know this will turn to the PS3 later (with the load of games that are about to come, the delayed western releass, and of course, the FFs), but for now, the present that counts, 360 is still the platform...
Quality-wise, well, we have to discuss the exclusives: Disgaea 3, Valkyria Chronicles, Folklore, White Knight Chronicles, Demon's Souls vs Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant (Yes, i know it's multi, i have the PC one)... personally, i like the PS3 lineup quality more, Valkyria Chronicles is a classic, Disgaea 3 has in gameplay what it lacks in graphics and Folklore is the really good underdog (i haven't played WKC and DS); while i didn't like Blue Dragon and Infinite Undiscovery is one of those rare Tri-Ace bad games, The Last Remnant is ok, except for the 360 issues, but i play it on PC so i find it good. Lost Odyssey is just great. So i give that to PS3 (and let's remember that tov and so4 have extra content on the PS3), but that's just me, we need to have a compilation of scores to talk about quality better....
Variety-wise: PS3, 2 SRPGs done in extremely different way, one considered ARPG, one traditional RPG and one W-oriented RPG. While the 360 has 4 traditional (2 of them with some western orientation)...
I'm not gonna declare overall winners, but like i did my share of opinion, i'd like to see other's...
