yes I agree, with SO4 on PS3 too now, it is really THE platform for HD JRPG's

So I'm curious, what exactly qualifies it as being THE platform for HD JRPGs?

The highest selling JRPG this gen is Lost Odyssey.

In fact, out of the top 10 best selling JRPGs at the moment, 7 of them are Xbox 360 games and 5 of those are currently exclusives, soon to be 4 when SO4 is released for the PS3.

So what metric are you using to make that claim?

Well, striclty speaking the 360 right now has the best RPGs and sales, but I'd guess the arguement is that was due to getting titles first, etc. and the sales of ToV are evidence that as the same titles hit PS3 they will outperform 360, while the higher sales pretty much nix 360 chances of getting more timed exclusives unless MS pays through the nose for them - i.e. within a period of time the PS3 is very likely to overtake the 360 for RPGs in terms of sales.

Right but I guess my point is the overreaction by some people is just silly.  One game outsells it's counterpart on the 360 and suddenly it's is now THE JPRG console.  It's not "catching up" or "showing signs of taking over" or "doing just as well as"...according to him it has definitively taken over the crown based on 1 game's sales.  The reality is that the 360 still has a bigger and arguably better library of JRPGs overall and most of the top selling ones.   So my question to him was "THE platform" based on what grounds?  Potential?  Because it's not there yet.

Let's also not forget that for some inexplicable reason the 360 version of ToV was also discontinued not that long after it launched.  It hasn't had the chance to build the word of mouth sales that VC did.  So for all those people who had heard great things about the game and wanted to get it, they had to wait for the PS3 version.

I know what you mean, nothing's changed yet.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
