Forums - Sony - Design a control scheme for RE5:AV

i do remember distinctively, that i used to play shooters on the PC with a mouse in one hand and one finger of the other hand for the forward button!

now, if this Wand has a Trigger on the other side that can be used to shoot (or walk), and the middle button can be used to walk forward (or shoot) (its a rather long button, so maybe it has 2 pressure points, forward and backward?) Use the satellite buttons to choose Weapons or Options. the wand itself will serve as the "Mouse-Pointer" to look around and choose direction.

i know my setup is not perfect, but i only need one wand so far and no controller yet :D

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

is it essentially the same game?

if so... whats the point?

To play it with better controls. The same reason RE4:Wii sold.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Yes, I asked about the analogue stick as no nunchuk like device was shown in the pics I had seen, and another person in this thread stated that the PS eye would be unable to do two player games, hence why I said that if its limited to that its a flaw.  Having a four player game with two wands each is 8 wands, at 40-50 dollars a wand you're looking at $320-400 just on wands, a massive expenditure, more than the cost of the system itself, which is still pretty high to begin with.

Wii Remote Controller:  $39.99

Wii Nunchuk Controller: $19.99

Wii Motion Plus: 24.99

Per Player Cost: 84.97

Total for 4 players: $339.88

Any questions?

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Yes. Why did you multiply 84.97 by 4 when you get one remote and one nunchuck in the box? Subtract 59.98 from your final figure, and you have the full set up at $279.90.

Of course, both these scenarios are ludicrous. There are no 4-player Wii games that use such a complete set up, and it's unlikely any game will expect you to own 8 wands to play 4-way.

The per player cost is the same.

You see no problem adding an imaginary 59.98 that nobody will have to pay to your calculation?

If you want to include the initial remote+nunchuck, you'd have to include the consoles in the comparison, which wouldn't favour the PS3 (which is more expensive and doesn't include a wand or camera).

Somebody explain to me whether or not the wand has pointer functionality.

If it doesn't, then I don't think I like this idea.

I will buy the wand just for Ape Escape

Regardless, $279 is still a substantial cost and more than the system itself which were the initial points.  My apologies, by all means remove $60 from the Wii cost.  That makes a HUGE difference. /sarc
