Its over, sonys finished. Clearly. Their biggest first party game gets announced for release and they're fucked. Perfect logic.

Lol. That's good logic.

Around the Network

We have known since E3 that GT5 wasnt going to release in 2009. For some reason some people were predicting a surprise release, but honestly why would any firm do that? They need to drive up a frenzy.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

IF YOU'RE TIRED OF WAITING FOR THAT ONE GAME, THEN SELL YOUR PLAYSTATION STUFF AND GET THE FUCK OUT.

Oh come on. This was fully expected to happen. We've had rumblings of a 2010 release for months now, and here it is. You've all been prepared for the news, so suck it up and wait another 6 months (at least).

The real issue I see here is that by dropping so many titles into Q1 2010, they've now created an unhealthy sales atmosphere, especially with all of the other titles pegged for that timeframe. I guarantee at least two of the four titles are getting dropped out of Q1, and one of them is falling into next fall's lineup. Sony just isn't going to let their releases bunch up on each other like this. My best guess is that MAG and God of War 3 stay in Q1, Gran Turismo 5 moves to Q2 sometime in the summer(for EU and US only), and Heavy Rain drops to next fall.

Ok, if that happens I will go on a killing spree

Honestly, at the best I say late summer. There's just too much in the pipeline. I would have went with MAG, but with a beta out already, I don't see it dropping past Q1. It obviously won't be GOW3 since it always drops in March. GT5 dropping to next fall would just be too much of a tragedy to actually happen, and if it releases in Japan in March, it'll be far too big of a release gap. I did forget White Knight Chronicles, but now thinking about it, I think it's the type of game Sony will release to little fanefare and attention. It could come out whenever because it won't choke the marketing time of other games. Out of all, I'd say Heavy Rain has the most potential to fall way out of Q1 because it's ambitious in it's storytelling, graphics heavy and might require polishing. Sony would likely give them the time to do what they needed with the game with so many other titles bunched up and needing to be spread out.

I mean what does Sony have for next fall anyways? (Honest question, because I don't know).

sony still have uncharted 2 killzone 2 and FF13 this year-
and a constant flow of games for what remains of 2009 and 2010

Don't forget that Polyphony Digital was also working on GT PSP as well, so I'm sure that screwed up their GT5 timeline a little bit as well. Or at least made them delay it a bit so as not to have the two GT games releasing at the same time.

It could be like what Sony did with Resistance 2 and Killzone 2. Release R2 in Nov. 08 and then intentionally delay KZ2 until early 09, so they wouldn't compete against each other. Now it's happening again with GT PSP and GT5, possibly?

I unfortunately agree, this was an opportunity for Sony to really make this holiday huge for them but they are just taking to damn long on this game. I may have to skip out on it now with everything else dropping in that timeframe.

Sony, you are a bunch of morons, way to fuck up this holiday season

can I ask you have you ever worked in the electronic game industry?

because many thing's can and will go wrong you can count on it.

Murphy's law

http://www.murphys-laws.com/

No I have never worked in the electronic game industry,  but what does that have to do with Sony dropping the ball on it #1 exclusive?  They fucked up, they release Gran Turismo 5 this holiday and the only problem they would be having would be meeting demand for the PS3.

Well I say to you its very easy to blame someone without knowing all the facts. DROP THE BALL!

DROP THE BALL..YOU SAY, THATS FUNNY.

#1 EXCLUSIVE please!

One game does not make or break a system, the xbox360 is not just a HALO machine but the way some people act like it is

IT's not. and the PS3 is not just a GT machine . Its about the whole catalog of software One game is just that One game among what will be 1000's over the next few year's.

Patience is a virtue because it makes us better people. The definition of the word is to tolerate delay. This implies self control and forbearance as opposed to wanting what we want when we want it. How many times have we jumped the gun and found out it would have been better to tolerate delay or had self control? What did we miss out on? Did we hurt someone we love because of lack of patience? Having patience will heal the wounds and it will work itself out fine. Patience is not only a virtue but a necessity for a happy existence.

there are other game's to play

Yeah DROP THE BALL, thats what Sony did.   And if you dont think that Gran Turismo is Sony's #1 exclusive game then you even less about the video game industry then I do.    Well I do believe the Xbox 360 is a Halo machine,  without that game the Xbox brand would have dissappeared.   Its the reason I bought both my Xbox and 360.   And while the PS3 may not be a GT machine, to not have its #1 exclusive title come out within its first 3 years of being on the market is Sony fucking up.

You are correct patience is a virtue,  but patience stops after 3 years of empty promises.  I dont know what the rest of that crap you are writing about, its not like I am going to go kill someone cause I am not going to get to play GT5.   But I can and will ignore it when it comes out.

see that is the problem...you did not even ask me if i worked in the game industry, you just stated what you did as Im right and your wrong, and Sony's #1 exclusive..is the catalog of  playstation  games  as a whole, that's the number one Exclusive, why because no one game is worth the whole catalog.

as for saying to have it's #1 exclusive to not come out within 3 year's on the market is Sony fucking up. for one you should not be comparing prev. generation's to this one because for one the PS3 is not the PS2 or the PS1. Its the PS3 it has very high end hardware, that developer's are able to get quite a bit of fantastic results from, same with the xbox360. but it take's time because of the number of open ended thing's you can do with the hardware this generation. An if that means the developer may need more time to implement said function's in the game to make the gamer's experience better in their Opinion, I say its great.

"you can please some of the people some of the time, but you cannot please everyone all of the time"

Playstation does not revolve around just one game it revolve's around many game's.

So what exactly do you do in the video game industry?    If no one game is worth the whole catalog then explain why when games like Halo and Gran Turismo get released the hardware sees huge jumps in sales.   Obviously no one buys a console for just one game,  but alot of the time its one game that gets them to buy the system, then they find other games to enjoy.

BTW,  the PS2 and the PS1 were also very high end hardware for the time they were released.  So if that is your only arguement as to why I shouldnt compare this generation to past ones, then it fails.  They have had about 4 years to get this game right or add any functionality meanwhile other companies have produced multiple games in the same timeframe.

Well since you like spouting little sayings here is one for you.

"Tomorrow is promised to no one, so live each day like its your last"

Although if it was up to Polyphony Digital they may be able to delay the inevitable like everything else they have delayed.

R&D and for other reason's I cannot go any further than that.

as for why: its simple why do people pay $400.00 for a single football game ticket. for certain seat's

it's with anything. its up to the companies to make something that people want to buy, it's up to you if you want to buy it or not.

it's  all subjective.

Right now you think by Sony not getting GT5 out before fall 2009 its somehow not the right thing to do, Sony does not AGREE WITH YOU!

as for the PS1 or PS2 vs' the PS3

for one the PS1 or the PS2 did not have as many income streams as the PS3 or any of the current next generation systems have access to this time

the online component of income stream dynamics are by far above anything from the ps1, ps2 generation, yes the PS2 did indeed carry over to this generation but even the first xbox had the better online structure to make more income if Microsoft had the chance to extend it's time on the market.

with not the xbox360,ps3,nintendo Wii, DS,DSI,PSP ALL with more robust online presence something even the ps1, nor the ps2 would be capable of due to it's hardware limitation's

Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 are on the same machine. The two Gran Turismos are on different machines. To help sell my point, Sony had no problem releasing Killzone 2 and Resistance: Retribution 3 weeks apart.

As far as next fall,  probably Resistance 3 or whatever else Insomniac is working on.   Final Fantasy XIV is a summer game right?   Agent, Final Fantasy VS XIII and  The Last Gaurdian are all possibilities.  Other than that I dont know

Although those games are different franchises even though they are in the same genre(fps). The GT games are the exact same franchise and in the same genre. Racing fans might be willing to splurge a bit to pick up GT PSP while they wait for GT5, but if they were released in the same time frame (a few weeks apart) I'm sure many would be willing to forgo one of the versions in favor of the other one. (in this case most likely forgoing GT PSP in favor of GT5 as that is the more hyped up title, IMO)

If I had a PS3 then I would definitely be willing to pass on GT PSP in favor of GT5. Though since I have a PSP and a 360, I'm passing on GT PSP for Forza 3.
