Didn't Wada also say the PS3 Slim/ price cut would have a minimal impact on sales?

Seriously...what's up with SE lately?

He was talking about SE games in 2009. Not the PS3 itself.

Gotcha. Although he's still wrong, since slim will be bundled with FF XIII.

FF 13 would have been bundled with the regular PS3, and sold just as much.

Just because the PS3 got a remodel doesn't mean interest in FF 13 will suddenly increase.

But now it's much cheaper

And Japanese love small (typically).

Not necessarily it wouldn't. The slim and pricecut has put a lot of attention onto the PS3. A lot of people will have still thought it was too big or too pricy if the old model and price would have stayed the same.

Now it is of course cheaper and slimmer it bring a whole new bunch of people willing to try it out. And what better game to get with it than Final Fantasy 13?

If people hadn't already decided on getting FF13, I doubt that a new PS3 model will make a difference in their decision. I will get a PS3 slim when FF13 comes out, but I would have done the same for other systems. Of course, if FF13 gets a port to a Nintendo system I will certainly hold off. Only if it is announced before the PS3 version launch though.

Square should port FF10 and 12 to Wii, and get Matsuno on board for Vagrant Story 2.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

That would be true if PS3 had games like Wii Fit or Wii Sports.

FF 13 caters to a very dedicated fanbase in Japan. These are the kind of people who bought a 360 just to play Tales of Vesperia.

PS3 being $100 more expensive (or Japan equivalent) would not stop people from buying the bundle and pickign up FF 13, in fact, Sony can probably raise the price and still sell just as many as they would have.

When has a price drop ever caused people to buy more games for their consoles? as far as I can see, PS3 and 360 have slashed their prices in half while attatch rates remain the same.

One problem with all of this. You seem to forget the game is being bundled.

Wada is speaking to investors, investors who want to see more Wii games, for profits, so by saying that there will be a new Wii in 2011 he can explain why they aren't developing more games for Wii

Nintendo will only launch the next console when its more profitable to do so than to stick with Wii, that is a while off, not to mention they won't be announcing a new console next E3, due to Zelda Wii, the Vitality sensor games, etc., So E3 2011 is the earliest time for announcing it, which means a late 2012 release at the earliest, but that will only happen if Sony and MS are about to launch new consoles as well or if Wii profits have fallen off sharply.

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I meant to highlight that part of the post ¬_¬ God damn stupid internet.

Anyway. The slim and pricecut bundled with teh 13 will move more than the phat at whatever price it was. This is common knowledge.

I don't really think it will. Granted the weekly hardware figure might be larger for that week due to the higher base value of the slim and it being in the middle of December, the quantity of FF 13 bundles would probably remain unchanged. If Sony planned for 200k PS3 bundles, they would still have 200k Ps3 slim bundles, I don't think they would increase it. Even so, the software figure for FF 13 would not change by much with this price drop. If it was going to sell 1.5-2 million before slim, it would sell 1.5-2 million after slim. The only time it would change by a large amount  is if the Ps3 installbase SIGNIFICANTLY increased (see, double or tripled) by the time FF 13 released.
