Naughty dog's Christophe Balestra explain what he meant with the famous sentence "Me Maxed the PS3"
Recently, you announced that you pushed the PS3 to the limits. Does that mean that you can not do better?
No, it does not mean that. For the first Uncharted we used only 30% of SPUs and our goal was to bring most of our systems on the SPUs. With Uncharted 2, the SPUs run at 100%, they are always active.
There is still room for an improvement : SPUs are very fast, but they can be even faster if we take the time to optimize the code, something we have not done 100% .
There's room left for a future project. Moreover, we can always find new tricks to optimize treatment.

And now another glimpse of an interview for gamekult.com (french website) Balestra is asked about ND sharing tricks with other studios
And as such, you share the "tricks" with other studios? When you move to France, do you visit some colleagues and provide some tips for development on PS3?
Funny, I was last night in a French studio. Almost the whole staff was there to ask questions. We also share our experience with Infinity Ward, Bungie, Insomniac Games, Sucker Punch, we are in constant contact. It does not share code, it's more trying to understand the problems. For example, Infinity Ward came home for a day, they were fifteen, have toured the studio, asked questions ... and vice versa. It's something I think, very American. The approaches are sometimes different from one studio to another, but the results are there.
Infinity Ward, yep Bungie, wait a minute Bungie ?!??!! Bungie visiting a first party Sony Studio ???!!!
Uncharted Halo of Duty to be announced soon
