Forums - Sony - Geek Squad will HELP SET UP your PS3 for $129 only! (RIP-OFF)!!

You think that is bad. At least you get something. They'll setup and install your DS

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

That's kind of wow. I mean, I know that past the basic plug it into the wall and the TV wifi and other settings some might find intimidating do come up, but this does seem like overkill cost for what is a fairly simple device.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

they better earn me some platinum trophys too

Why would you need to have it set up? Is the PS3 more difficult to set up or something?

1) ps3 set up is identical in difficulty to a 360.

2) geek squad will charge the same to set up a 360 or a wii.

3) yes, people do buy this shit.  my girlfriend's dad is one of those peoople.  he recently bought a sound bar for which the only set-up was to plug in the speaker, plug in the optical audio cord, and set the TV to send sound to an external device.  American wanted to charged $200 for the service of setting it up.  He did finally agree to let me set it up for him (free) but he was really worried I wouldn't be able to figure it out.

wow thats unbelievable

i got another one for ya.

so i'm sitting down waiting for the train after work.  Some guy sits down next to me, sees me playing my ds starts talking to me.  he just wanted to know a bit about the ds as a system but then he tells me the most unbelievable story (imo).  it was shortly after the holiday and the ps3 is at the time just a bit over a year old which means that you, i, anyone could easily walk into any store and buy a ps3 for $400.  but noooo....this guy starts bragging to me about how for the holidays he got his kids a ps3.  he said something to the effect of "i was browsing craigslist and i found this guy who was willing to give me a great deal on a used ps3.  yeah, he only charged me $1500."    i nodded politly but inside i died a little.

OH MY GOD

why didn't you TELL the man it only costs $499!

because he looked soo happy and proud.  telling him he got ripped off wouldn't have helped him get his money back, just make him sad.

one last story, it's not money related but i still love it.

i'm at target in the bargin bin section and there was a mother-daughter duo looking at wii games.  As I enter the section all i hear is this conversation.

mother: "i don't know, why dont' you pick one out."

daughter: *slowly scans games then picks up sonic unleashed* "how about this one"

mother: *looks at details on back of box" "i dunno.  running and jumping....i don't think i'm ready for this."

Will they charge the controller, too? If not, then, NO DEAL!

for ONLY $129????

LOL

I'll set your PS3 up for $5 LOL

Okay, $129? Well if they give me all the cables needed and a new TV (The cheapest HD-Ready I've ever seen was 99€) then I would consider the offer.

Well I paid about 2,97€ for getting my PS3 into the internet after several days of failure trying by myself.

I called the Aon (Internet Provider) Helpline (0,99€/min) to get a update which makes my Router thingy a Mega-Router-Thingy that is connected the whole time with the internet. Now everything is just Plug-n-Play. Well now i don't have to enter a Password or anything to connect to the Internet, although I'm kind of sad for not making it without help. I still don't know how it is working now...

this is truly rediculous i hope no one is stupid enouh to do this
