Forums - Gaming - Dirt 2 or NFS Shift?

I've been wanting to try out Shift. My friend has it, but doesn't seem to wanna let me play it (even when I was there) and I have no idea why =l

Well, i played Colin Mcrae Dirt 2 for approx 3 hours yesterday for the first time, during that period i picked up 285 G's & reached level 16 and won approx 25+ races, i'm sure the length of the races will get longer but based on the points i already have for it and how far i have progressed in career mode, i don't see this been a lengthy game.

Defo a rent job.

Still an excellent racing game though, lots of fun.

I've reached level 18 by now and played exactly 2 hours in actual races. I estimate between 13 and 14 hours of pure racing time at the end of the career.

Considering all loading times and time you'll spend in the menues, buying a new car or whatever even if it's only 1 minute per race (100 events, ~200 races), well you can do the math.

I guess about 20 hours for all singleplayer events and all sp achievements.

Shift.

Well I did and it is not that good... game reminds me of everything EA does.

Its loud, its brash, it looks good and it has very few original ideas. Dead Space comes to mind...

I've had the same question, and I'm leaning toward Dirt 2. However, I'm planning on buying it for cheap in a few months, rather than renting it now.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

After playing NFS: Shift last night, I liked it. However, DiRT 2 is fantastic game, one that I recommend over Shift.

Yeah, Dirt 2 is probably better. NFS Shift made me want to buy PGR4 again. Same...but better!

Well out of the 2 go with Shift because it looks like NFS finally got it right. Just, please, don't rent dirt 2.

You should give Shift another chance. When you're driving a Pagani Zonda R down the Nurburgring straight.... you'll never want to play another racer again. But only in that moment.

But yeah, the cockpit view is incredible. And terrifying O_o

What? Explain your vague statement sir!

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Need for Speed is so much fun.

I would go for that just because you can do what ever you want with your car and it's fast and crazy.
