Forums - Sales - Price drop perceptions -- different for different consoles

From the things that make you go "hmmm" department ...

PS3 pricedrop reaction: Sony will sell a lot more consoles.

Xbox 360 pricedrop reaction: Microsoft will sell a lot more consoles.

Wii price drop rumor reactions: (a) Nintendo won't sell any more consoles because it didn't need to drop the price for the casuals or (b) Nintendo didn't need to drop the price because no one is out there who wants a Wii who does not own one.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I get the exact same impression aswell from the Internet... kinda funny actually...guess it's just something they HOPE rather then what will actually happen.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

stop being donutist against the donuts.....I wanna give you donuts

The main reason people are saying this is because there are NO complaints of the Wii's price seen by those certain people.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

The problem about Wii is value: a 250$ Wii with just 1 remote, one nunchuk and Wii Sports has not an as good value as 3 years ago; instead, a 199$ Wii and a 250$ with WSR and WM+ would just be a better thing to sell...not to speak of a NSMBW bundle! Definitely you can't sell that for 300$, so a cut for the previous bundle is needed.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

my view :

PS3 pricedrop reaction: Sony will sell a lot more consoles.

Xbox 360 pricedrop+BUNDLE+HALO reaction: Microsoft will sell a lot more consoles.

Wii price drop rumor reactions: Ninty will sell a lot more console

I would probably add: Wii at $250 wasn't competing with anybody, but Wii at $200 is competing, and therefore in trouble.

But to be fair, there are quite a few people who say that this will help to drive Wii sales. I don't think it will be as pronounced as the PS3's redesign, but it might get a better reaction than 360's cut. And if the speculation of new bundles comes true... well, look out.

Wii pricedrop: Nintendo is making a huge mistake, price drops are a red ocean strategy!

Ps3 pricedrop: This will get Sony back in the game!

fixed.

It's more of a:

Sony pricedrop: Many more consoles sold
Microsoft pricedrop: a few more consoles sold
Nintendo pricedrop: prevents fewer consoles sold

And those reactions aren't too far off, the PS3 price drop has increased sales dramatically, the 360 numbers were boosted slightly, but no where near the PS3, and I think we can expect a moderate increase in Wii sales, but only to 2008 levels without year-over-year growth really.

Well to be fair.

The Wii is selling more consoles then any console ever. It's total console sales are way above the PS2.

How many more customers can be out there?
