^the game's been on Amazon's top 5 and in Gamestop's top 6 since last Friday I believe...I don't usually check those lists , so does that mean anything? Is gamestop's bestsellers list anything to go by for launch expectations? I'm quite thrilled to see a game like HR disputing top-selling places with the likes of FFXIII! (I know it won't sell near as much, not even launch, but maybe it'll be significantly higher than what the pre-order previews from VGC are showing) :) GO RAIN! POUR POUR!

Neither of those things are really indicators of launch sales. It will probably do fairly well though.

Now the question is what you consider to be "fairly well" ;)

Well I'm not a sales guy, but I'd consider 400-500K worldwide week 1 to be good for this game.

I don't think that's likely to happen.  Looking like it'll do 120-130k in NA so it would have to do unexpectedly (for me) good in Japan to get up to 400k worldwide week one.

Dang, that would be incredibly high (imho). Wonder how it'll do though.

300K would be decent. I just said 400-500K would be good.

Something you probably haven't heard yet, that's spoiler free:

The game comes with a colored piece of paper and during the install teaches you how to make the origami bird that you find on the cover of the game. After the folding is done the bird looks identical to the one on the cover, blood red wings and all.

That's awesome

More games should give you something to do during installs.

The one playing madison is smoking hot though ^^

@naznatips

when a game like Mass Effect 2 makes 900K in its first week (MS backing it up with major marketing push, larger install base, hype, etc, plus it's a sequel, rave reviews etc etc) , 300K WW first week for a game like Heavy Rain can't be just "decent". If it makes 300K WW first week it'll be a HUGE thing. That's around what a FPS like MAG did (being new franchise, online only and etc), no other console games have had such a good opening week THIS YEAR, not Darksiders and definitely not Bayonetta.

This game cost more to make than MAG. Under 300k first week will be disappointing for the game, as it's going to need huge sales to have a chance at breaking even. Well over 1 million lifetime.

Heavy Rain blurs the line between film and gameplay gloriously. Some will not like the game, due to the conditioning this generation of games has built into players. However, if you are in need of experiencing something that is not like the norm but draws you into an immersive story unlike anything before, Heavy Rain is definitely worth your attempt. Just be prepared go back repeatedly for the various experiences from each play-through. Believe me; you will care enough about these characters to want to see just how things play out differently each time. Heavy Rain potentially marks the beginning of something new in the industry and I hope the rain continues to fall.
