thanks for the sum up for those that did so! ^___^

anyone else notice that the watchdog guy who is airing the program, works with MS as a freelancer?

Wow that was a long read. I think Sony is in the right here.

I dont see how its even overcharging. Here in the US it is $150, that $150 pays for shipping both ways, most of the time overnight or 2-day shipping. Then it is fixed by certified technicians and is then guaranteed to work for a short time, 90 days I think, otherwise they fix it out of their pocket. Hell the shipping back and forth is probably close to half of that amount.

ah too much read..can someone sum it up?

Basically if they air the show in current form someone is getting put on Sony's "to be owned" list.  Possible lawsuit ftw! They have to protect the system's image especially from crap watchdog investigations.  I think Sony is in the right here, especially if they ar trying to compare the yellow lights to the RROD. Not very comparable.

Watchdog isn't saying its comparable to RROD, in fact it's not about failure rates at all, its about sony overcharging for repairs.

How are they over charging for repairs when in the letter it states that what Sony charges and what a seperate repair company charges is about $20-$15 less?

I think sony is missing the point, the report isnt complaining about failure rates, its about sony refusing to fix broken consoles

they are not refusing to repair them, they just charge 150$ which include the shipping. they failure rate its small after warranty if up they by law can refuse to repair them for free, they actually do so sometimes.

nintendo made me pay the repair of my L buttom on my DS it was just one week out of warranty.

and you are not forced to pay sony for the repair some electronic or chinese shop would do it for cheaper.

They are not refusing to repair.
Whereas RROD was a HW error, a defect in all the machines, the YLOD is caused by a variety of factors, not just one in particular. Specifically, YLOD is caused by certain problems, like poor ventilation, abuse, dustiness, and filth, as well as overheating.

The problem here is that a lot of people put their consoles in an entertainment center...which is a horrible horrible idea. You ever feel how hot it gets inside those? Not to mention electromagnetic interference from other electronics, the basic design for entertainment centers induces a sort of dust funnel, with lots of electronics fans and exhaust all running together.

Any one think SONY wants to remove BBC iPlayer support now, :P

Errr no. If they did then the money they spent on those adverts have just kicked them in their backside as it says that you can use the BBC iPlayer, that'd be just...hypocracy after this report where they told the BBC off for portraying out false/unfull information :D

Did they air this? BBC is gonna have a nice lawsuit on their hands if they do :O Sony is definitely in the right here, and the BBC made some pretty unfair comparisons.

The Halo francise is the most overrated bland game to ever hit the console market. It provides a bad name to all FPS that even showed effort at creating an original entertaining plot.

I probably have more ps3 games than you :/
