Forums - Microsoft - 360 Arcade SKU comes with 5 game... demos? Hang on, what???

This is a nice deal, I don't get what all the fuss is about.

If the rumors are true, this lets you buy the console now for $279, and the HD a little later for ~$90. Yeah, for ~$20 less you could get a Premium, and you'd get a free headset and better cables. But if you don't have $349 now... well, no cigar.

And if you expect 20GB won't be enough for you, and you don't have the $449 for an Elite, you can buy this now, and the 120GB for ~$160 later. You'll be getting what's basically a white Elite, for $10 less than an Elite.

Face it, if you don't have the money for a better 360 now, and still want in on the action, this is a pretty decent, and upgradable, deal.

Nice post.  But I hate to be the bearer of bad news... Logic doesn't work against trolls.  They seem to all be wearing logic-proof cologne or be wearing their "elven slippers of logic defense +7".

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Key kn, quick question -

In the beginning of owning a X360, your initial impressions were "ok", giving the system a 7/10 overall rating.

Now that you've had it awhile, what do you think now, in terms of overall score? Higher, or lower?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

KN just purchased a HDTV, I have a feeling when he gets it his rating for the 360 will go up :)

I'll start a new thread so as not to derail this one too far...

When I do finally get the thing home and set up, I'll post up how it changes my impression of the 360 though I do have a pretty darn high quality SD Sony Wega so I'm not sure how much better it can get.  I'm not going to get my hopes up for some kind of earth shattering experience because I don't want to be disappointed...

The 40gb unit is a gimped piece of shit and not worth my money. But the 40gb unit still gives you PS3 gameplay with a HDD, while the 360 with no HDD is gimped beyond anything, XBL is the main selling point for the system. Plus the lack of HDD makes the games run slower that use the HDD to cache information.

I call BS~ With out a HDD on your 360 you can: Play Games Save Games Play Games online Download Arcade Games Play Arcade Games Play dvds Play cds etc The only thing you can not do which according to you is "gimped beyond anything" would be, download large game demos or movies.

No the Xbox 360 doesn't need a harddrive.

Just like how the 40GB doesn't go BC, the 360 Core doesn't. But really whats a plus for the 360 Core in general it has a way bigger libaray than the PS3 40GB to satsify the costumer. So Core wins in this situation.

can it still play HAlo 1/Halo 2?

Ok, excellent. So the initial report was jumping the gun. This is good news - I couldn't imagine MS could advertise the package with 5 games - then it turns out they are demos... :)
