Imports are the answer to the censorship problem. A watered down version of the game arrives with a few scenes removed from the finished Australian version of the game.

Some game stores around town will have import versions of the game which have not been censored. European, Japanese or North American version of the game is the answer.

Yea you gotta hope that customs don't realise your importing it. Plus Australia's internet filter is rumorted to block websites that import games. Australia has gone to the dogs. :(

This info is wrong.  There is currently no internet filtering in Australia.

The talk about blocking sites that would allow you to import games from other countries is part of the proposed anti-paedaphilia measures that whats-his-name is championing.  Essentially a filter that facilitates blocking of all sites selling or advertising R-rated games.  Doesn't make any kind of sense.

edit: I'm going to have to do some more reading about this because i still haven't got my head around the whole issue and it irks me tremendously.

'Cept that the Liberals, Greens and Nick Xenophon all oppose it.

Also, it's been delayed for long enough that it can't be introduced before the next election. Whatever a government does in the early part of the term doesn't effect how their chance of reelection, but what they do late on does.

That's only if people know about it, its rediclous the minimal amount of publicity that such a rediculous plan is getting!

But i agree that once people hear about it they will start to get pissed off, hell the trial list blocked the website of one of our great photogrophers Bill Henson because they consider his work child pornography!

Anyway ill be getting L4D2 from steam or shipping it in if its censored, so SA's attorney general can shove it.

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

Aussie is same DVD region as sensible game rating system New Zealand. L4D2 on the shopping list of Aussie weekend tourists coming over to see their cuzzies confirmed.

What y'all need to do is to lobby hard for the single border agreement to come in ASAP which will allow Aussie and NZ citizens to walk on through the international terminals as if it was a domestic flight (only scanning the passport to prove that you are an Aussie/Kiwi. Otherwise you could get nabbed by Customs on the way through and have those 12 copies of L4D2 in your suitcase confiscated.

If you try to import a banned game by international mail I'm sure you run the risk of having the game confiscated if Customs picks it up. And that'll be a waste of money.
