Who said it insulted me? I take no personal insult from the ignorance of others. And yes, I Am A BLU-RAY DISK.

I didn't say it insulted you, as in COKTOE, I mean you as in people. The title shouldn't offend any people, whereas your post was meant to offend people. I'm not arguing which is better or anything, merely your usage of the English language in defending your statement, which I found to be wrong.

@dbot

the attitude comment may have been better aimed at others in this thread... heres a clue..

@coktoe

nice... classy.

Yes. I'm wearing a black, backless sequin gown. And I spun myself into this thread.

The thread title opens itself up to "attititude". "Who needs Blu-Ray?''. C'mon. My answer was in line with the question the way it was posed.

Wrong. Unless you actually are a Blu-Ray disk or player, the title shouldn't insult you. Whereas you directly insulted people who think differently than you because they "swing from MS's dick."

It's not even a matter of "thinking differently". Is a mid-range 1080p TV that came out in 2006 as good as a top-of-the line 1080p tv from 2009? No. Think it is all you want. Take some philosophy classes. Go to Tibet and meditate. It doesn't matter. The sun is a giant ball of water. All those that think differently are insulting me.

Fair enough. But the thread title itself more than justifies my response.

My friend rented Tremors in HD,720P and it was like 4 gigs,so 1080p will be like 6-8 gigs.

Oh here is another thing,if you buy the movie,and you wanna watch you can just stream it,or just dowload the hole thing.

 I believe a 2 hour DVD movie (in 480p)  takes somewhere around 5-6 GB. As you pointed out you can have 720p in 4 GB and even a 1080p in 3 GB if you like. But just like a picture the more information it has (memory it uses) the better the picture will be. Blu-ray does not automaticly mean HD.  What makes Blu-ray special is it uses a small laser so it can store/write more information on one disc.  Thus you can have a movie with up to 25 GB/50GB.

 From the way I  understand this: If  you can watch something  in two formats uses the same amount of memory/ bandwidth  (4gb /2hrs for example) one at 480p another at 1080p. When the picture stays pretty close fixed (like watching Jeopardy) then the 1080p format will look better than 480p. But if the picture is constantly moving (Like watching any sports) the 480p will look better than 1080p. When it comes down to it a moving picture needs more  information a lot faster than a still picture.

You guys are missing the beauty of Instant On movie purchases. You purchase the movie and it is tied to your Windows Live id. So now, you can instant watch your purchased movie from anywhere you have a browser or your 360 profile. No need for the full download. You do not have to have the movie on your XBox HD. Anytime you want to watch the movie, stream it.

Remember this is more tied to the Zune Marketplace than it is to the 360. The 360 is just another outlet to view instant on movies outside of the Zune software.

Your movie purchase is basically a toggle switch in the cloud.

But the option to fully download is there as well.

WHO NEEDS BLURAY?

Whats up with that? And why is there serveral mods in this thread and this guy isnt banned?

4.4 GB for a full movie in 1080p? Interesting.. must be extreemly compressed

mM

Well, that kind of sucks for the 360 owners without a HDD.

Let me show you why they call me the velour fog. Hit it.

I met her in a club down in old Soho,

Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like coca cola,

C-o-l-a, cola.

She, walked up to me and she asked me to dance,

I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said;

Leela, L-e-e-l-a, Leela, Lee, Lee, Lee, Leela

Leeeeeeeelaaaaaaaa

1080p in 4.4gb you'd probably have bad sound, bad compressed files and quite possibly not a 1080p movie. Even pirated bluray movies sub par real blu ray movies tend to be at atleast 6gb

It's encoded in WMV-HD.
