I don't think free online would have hepled that much, it's the portability that MH3 is missing.

Again with the best selling console game this generation in Japan being called a bomb? Maybe in relative terms , but definitely not in sales value. It is also the best selling console Monster Hunter by A LOT.
Edit: Dragon Quest IX still doing amazingly!!!
MH3 did great overall. Will reach a million in japan which is a success.
Haters often have less IQ, and therefore don't understand the word 'million'.

Honestly what do you expect from people these days. 880k in the pockets of Capcom and it is a bomb! Even when it sells 1 million it will be a bomb. Even if it crawls it way to 1.2 million it will be a bomb. :(
Speaking of drops what happened to Gundam.

Looking at some numbers on Japanese forums... 38,000 for DQ9 this week.
One guy says that MH3 didn't live to his expectations and we have thread full of defense posts. Take it easy guys.
MH 3 is a hit. Not by any means as huge as the PSP games but still a hit. Get over it already.
On the other hand PSP can thank it´s lucky star that it has Monster Hunter because otherwise the softwaresales for the system is really pitiful. Wii gets a lot of critisism in this area but PSP sure as hell is not doing any hotter. PSP has better releases coming up though so it may improve. The fact still is that without Monster Hunter PSP would be a failure in Japan.
The only winner in Japan is DS which since early summer has crushed all competition. DQ 9, Pokemon HG/SS and the years biggest surprisehit Tomodachi Collection is pulverising all other releases this year.
