Forums - Gaming - im i the only one that likes Final Fantasy cause it changes alot?

Yes i agree i was glad when they changed the way battles happened in ff12, there were some things i didn't like about the game but i liked the game overall.

I actually loved 12... it was a gaming blast at the time of playing. Hell I still enjoy it now. Don't know why there was so much hate tsk tsk.
But yes, I liked how X and XII was different. Keeps it different, so when they do go back to an old system, doesn't feel as bad.

That's exactly why I consider Final Fantasy to be one of the best RPG sagas in gaming history, because with each new game they give us a completely new story, new lore, new combat system, new everything almost.
Take for example FFXII, it was a complete revamp of the saga in the combat department, and, it was one of the most fun FF to farm for items and to just fight endlessly, because it was extremely fluid and felt like a real open world, and even the gambit system was never forced on you, I actually disabled it since the beginning of the game.

"Final Fantasy Changed alot now its no longer Final Fantasy"

Ah... I thought we were bitching about the newer FF cause the quality of the games are worse (still good.. but not as awesome as in the old days..) Old fans were expecting that the series would grow better and better.. but instead it peaked at VI and from there it went down... making it not so awesome anymore... but you say we are bitching cause it changes every title in characters, battle system etc.. hmmm.. interesting..

xD

yeah i agree that different is better, makes every game a classic on its own.

This is why Final Fantasy series would never end.

@NiKKoM

I don't get why do the old FF fans have to fall all in the same category. I've been playing FF since FF II for the NES, and my favourite FF is and will always be FF VI, because I personally think it was the epitome of the whole saga. That doesn't mean that i've got any complains for the afterwards FF's, I liked a lot all the changes in direction that each subsequent game have introduced.

FF VII, FFVIII and FF XII are always mentioned as the lack of quality of FF games after FF VI, although i don't see why, they both have done something better than FF VI did, even if FF VI is the best game as a whole. FF VII had the best magic system in the entire series, i really enjoyed the materia system over the the esper magic learing; FF VIII introduced Triple Triad, the best mini game in a FF ever, and FF XII had the best combat system, if you didn't limit yourself to the gambit system, i mean, you could actually pull off so many different strategies in real time against bosses, which was an evolution of the old "be prepared, big bad-ass boss is coming"

in before twesterm telling me how all Final Fantasy games is the same cliched crap as FF1 that Square Enix keep recycling

huh?

Do you mean I think recent ones suck because they focus more on pretty graphics rather than story and characters?  I don't think I've ever had a problem with the game actually changing from game to game.  I've had problems with some of their decisions concerning gameplay, but not the fact gameplay (and setting) changes from game to game.

I'm not a fan of the battle system change. thats huge for me I couldn't even finish part 12
