well you might not agree (nor do I) but the AFA has as much right to freedom of speech as the gay rights movements

yeah but the freedom of speech don't give them the right to insult jewish as they do.

Its really sad that these people have started an organization with the sole purpose of hating others and forcing their own narrow views on the rest of society. AFA has been around a long time and it really is no more than an offshoot of the Klan.

I was reading something in wikipedia about britney spears and say something about an organization called  "American Family Association" that is a "christian organization" and start to read the information. I found shocking things that are the following:

About Homosexuality:

- The AFA actively lobbies against the social acceptance of homosexual behavior ("We oppose the homosexual movement's efforts to convince our society that their behavior is normal")

- The AFA also actively promotes the idea that homosexuality is a choice and sexual orientation can be changed through religious teachings in ex-gay ministries.

- they are against of same-sex marriage.

- In Spring 2005 the AFA launched a boycott of Ford for advertising in gay magazines, donating to gay-rights organizations, and sponsoring gay pride celebrations.

Anti-Semitic:

They believe that obscene content on television and in movies is a result of the media being controlled by Jews, who intentionally place anti-Christian messages and activities into their programming to undermine Christianity.

Boycott:

- The AFA has boycotted multiple U.S. companies for various reasons, most often relating to Christmas controversies, pornography, support of pro-abortion activism, support of violence in entertainment, and support of LGBT activism, including same-sex partner employee benefits. These organizations include: 7-Eleven, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Airlines, American Girl, Blockbuster Video, Burger King, Calvin Klein, Carl's Jr., Clorox, Crest, Ford, Hallmark Cards, Kmart, Kraft Foods, S. C. Johnson & Son, Movie Gallery, Microsoft, MTV, Mary Kay, NutriSystem, Old Navy, IKEA, Sears, Pampers, Procter & Gamble, Target, Tide, Walt Disney Company, and PepsiCo.

My opinion: I think that we live in a modern age and people can do whatever they want with they lives and i still can't believe that there are people who think this way. They even boycott Microsoft.

Dude, u think this is shocking?

Have you ever heard about the Catholic Church for example? Or the prophet Muhammad?

The things you listed about the stance towards homosexuals based on religious doctrine aren't unique for "American Family Association" (whatever that is) but for hundreds of millions of people all over the world.

tell me what the catholic church or muhammed say because i dont know.

"No man should look at the private parts of another man, and no woman should look at the private parts of another woman, and no two men sleep [in bed] under one cover."

"Whoever has intercourse with a woman and penetrates her rectum, or with a man, or with a boy, will appear on the Last Day stinking worse than a corpse; people will find him unbearable until he enters hell fire, and God will cancel all his good deeds."

Muhammad

Of course it does.

You do realize that a boycott is simply a consumer statement that "I will not buy your products."

when you say consumer your talking about people or AFA.

Organizations are made up of people who individually decide what they will or will not buy.

It's not like AFA is going to send goons to your house to kill you if you eat a BK Whopper.

- ("We oppose the homosexual movement's efforts to convince our society that their behavior is normal") - I oppose it too. It's not normal (although everything doesn't have to be normal, but please don't lie)

- The AFA also actively promotes the idea that homosexuality is a choice and sexual orientation can be changed through religious teachings in ex-gay ministries. - This is very logical for a Christian to believe. Even some psychologists and behaviourists etc believe sexual orientation can be culturally/socially altered.

- they are against of same-sex marriage. - I am too. They can call it 'registered partnership', but plz dont call it marriage.

- In Spring 2005 the AFA launched a boycott of Ford for advertising in gay magazines, donating to gay-rights organizations, and sponsoring gay pride celebrations. - Well, Israel critics boycot Israel too, but no one thinks that's very shocking. Sony fans boyot Microsoft etc.

Anti-Semitic:

They believe that obscene content on television and in movies is a result of the media being controlled by Jews, who intentionally place anti-Christian messages and activities into their programming to undermine Christianity. - This i mostly disagree with, but do you have evidence that this is exactly what this organization says?

My comments in green.

I'd just like to say that the Christian religion does not encourage gay couples, so being against same sex marriage isn't really huge surprise. Honestly, I'm a Christian, and I accept gays and that they are that way, and that they may not want to change (or they feel that they are unable to change; I sure as hell know that I could never be gay or bisexual. The thought of it honestly disgusts me). Now all of you gays out there (who want Christian churches to perform same sex marriages) need to accept that I disagree with your choice, and I am very much against you trying to change my religion so that you can get married in a Christian church. Same sex marriage is not a Christian marriage. I'm sorry, that's my opinion on that.

If you want to be married, go to a government institution to legalize it, form your own religion, whatever. Just don't bring it into Christianity.

Also, it is perfectly fine for someone to participate in a boycott. Seriously, they happen all the time. How is this a big deal?

I will admit that there are some radical groups out there who are very anti gays, and they need to accept the fact that they can't force their ideals on everyone else in the same way that the gays can't force their ideals on everyone. There are problems on both sides.

HOW COULD YOU BOYCOTT IKEA!?

Jeez, one or two passages and this is how they react. I think they are just cherry picking thingss to support pre-existing prejudices. Luckily most Christians don't thinkt his way.

Ok, here's a challenge to anyone that wants to take it, please find me as many quotes from the bible or qu'ran that support gay relationships. May I suggest skeptics annotated bible as a starting point?

ok, go.

You're just trying to trick me into reading them aren't you?

I'm fine with homosexuality just KEEP IT IN YOUR HOUSE! Don't do it in public. I don't want to see 2 guys kissing or holding hands.

p.s. I'm pro choice, pro capital punishment, pro euthanasia.
