Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft creating Home rival?

According to reports, Microsoft E&D GM Daniel Schiappa has hinted that a PlayStation Home-like virtual world will be coming to Xbox 360 within the next year.

According to Team Xbox, the Entertainment and Devices boss turned up on stage at the Virtual Worlds Conference And Expo in San Jose and stated: "...by next year, you'll probably know more about why I'm up here." Oo-eer.

Speaking to CVG earlier this year, fellow Microsoft suit Chris Satchell said that Sony's Home incorporated a lot of ideas that Xbox 360 originated, perhaps suggesting that its own MMO-style virtual world wouldn't be too much of a departure.

"I think they've definitely taken some concepts that we originated like achievements, but I think they're pushing in a different direction and we've sort of fundamentally got two different approaches going on here," he said.

"It's a cool world but it's like a little game by itself. Our approach is the other way around; it's that games are the center and that's the star of the show, that's what people buy the console for."

lol......Microsoft....lol....Sony I don't know guys, but Microsoft is making something similar like PS Home. Now this is crazy.

Home is a stupid idea in general, many of the features that Home has are actually quite awesome, but the whole general idea of Home sucks. Putting all fo the great features of it without the actual *home* part would be great.

The idea that Microsoft would be making a Home clone is just stupid.

Well I totally agree Alexie, PS Home looks tight and amazing. Being able to communicate in a virtual world or talk with people and go over there apartments. It beats out Sims in my opinion.

By stating this, MS also admit that they think Home will be significant and have an impact. Home is a nice addition to a library that's picking up, but won't sell systems on it's own I think.

Microsoft isn't only doing this on the 360, there will probebly be crossover between pc, mobile phone and 360.

It sounds like MS is going to make their version of "home" more like an actual game, which defeats the purpose of Home in the first place. There are enough MMOs out there already, why just make another (free) one?

I guess there will be people that get excited over this....I'm not one of them.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Didn't Microsoft say that Home was a terrible idea, and that they want to focus more on people playing games?

It's sounds they are following the footsteps of SOny.

HD, Wi-fi, Maybe nxt-gen storage space, HOME, what more?

31 million PS3's by end of this year

Yeah, but its a sort of sub-game, its not that important to them, but they will make it, to make a direct competetion with Sony PS Home.
