Consumers don't really look beyond the price tag.
As much as I am going to get flamed for saying it, most consumers are flat out stupid.
If you packaged 10 core games with the Wii and priced it at $400, I doubt the sales would increase despite tremendous value, they would probably plummet and get tons of horrible press about Nintendo raising the price.
They need a cheap system with just Wii Sports. and bundle systems for a higher price (but no new SKUs). This way they can say "here you can buy the $200 core package, or pay $300 and get these great games and accessories with it). Making both options appealing. They won't think the system is expensive, but will be more willing to pay the extra cash since they can now see the difference on the shelves.
