once again, people predicting FF Versus 13 over 5/4 million

Do you really think it will sell more than FF 13 PS3 version, FF9, FF12 or get to around 80% of what those titles sold?

if you do then I will say fans of other consoles, these are not predictions of what the whole PS3 community feels, but predictions from a few fans who havn't researched software sales of final fantasy & its spin offs

do not generalise as their expectations do not equal our expectations.

I don't think RPG was saying that Halo 3 was also a pack-in. I think he was using Forza 2 as an example of a pack-in versus Halo 3 as an example of a bundle.

Not that I care, tbh, as I don't see any valuable distinction between the two terms.

I personally have a very high expectation when it comes to the sales of the final fantasy series (spin-off or not).

I don't think that Versus will sell more than FF13 because I have a higher predication for FF 13 sales :) 

Also, I don't think it's fair to compare FF9 or FF12 to FF Versus 13.

You see, FF9 was the thrid FF entry in the playstation 1 generation, and it was released in 2000 (2001 in some countries) , the time that the ps2 was launched and less than a year before (Final fantasy X).

As for FF12, it was released in 2006 and (2007 in some other countries), the time that the next generation systems hit the market.

Because of that they both didn't sell well according to my Final fantasy sales standard. But that isn't the case with Versus, isn't it?

Also, Final Fantasy X-2 which is a sequel, sold around 4 mil world wide, why would versus not sell that much? 

Tack on the fact that the ps3 owners are in a very desperate need to a quality JRPG (a lot of us bought a PS3 for the JRPG), and you will see why FF Versus 13 will have a great sales.

But I guess we will have to wait and see.

Note: My friend here resent the RPG, he thinks that this genre ruined the gaming, and yet he found Versus to be enticing (from all the screenshots and trailers I showed him). Versus makes a really good first impression, and I really do think that it will beat expectations.

Final Fantasy X-2 was a sequel to FFX which sold around 8 Million.

It has a plot continuing on from FFX......

FF Versus 13 is not linked to FF13 directly, its a spin off. FFX-2 was a sequel, the only Final fantasy sequel there is.

There is a big difference between a sequel & a spin off.

Secondly -- It is fair to compare FF Versus 13 to FF9 & FF12, as you are saying it will sell in the same bracket

But historically, no spin off has ever sold the same as a main iteration game.....its never happend in the FF series (we are talking about post FF7 FF's here for obvious reasons) & its not really happened in other franchises either.

What you & many people are saying will require some kind of miracle that has never happened before in gaming. & this miracle will be happening ona  3rd/2nd place console which does not sell software as well as its predecessors or the other systems on the market currently.

Darth - You don't think FF13 will sell more than 4 million? Seriously? It will sell more than half of that in Japan alone.

You are comparing FFX2 to FFv13? Seriously? FFX2... I mean... look at it... It had fail written all over it. I have no doubt Versus will sell better than FFx2 compared to the main story.

Darth, the difference between, say, Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles to FFX-2 and Versus XIII is pretty obvious IMO.

And you can't really compare them to FF7 sinoffs, since they are in different genres, different consoles from the main release and were released around 8 years after the original.

the fact is some PS3 fans have this thing in their head (which I got out a week after FF13 went multiplat) that FF Versus 13 is almost as important as FF13 & it isn't a spin off......anyone saying its a spin off is insulting it & its quality.....truth is.....it will be seen as a spin off by people who go into stores.

e.g. WHY is MGS:Rising called a SPIN-OFF by PS3 fans & Xbox 360 fans alike......after all FF Versus 13 will be like what MGS Rising is to MGS4......supposedly better grfx & more action based

FF Versus 13 will not sell like a main FF as it won't be marketed nor positioned as one.

HE said he expects Versus 13 to do 5 - 5.5 million.....so for me it may outsell FF13 PS3 by 100K (looking at my own prediction).

Secondly: FFX-2 had FAIL written all over it......but how do you know FF Versus 13 doesn't?

One more thing HE compared it to FFX-2 I didn't as FFX-2 is a SEQUEL with same characters with a continuing story in the same world.....a sequel to a game selling over 8 Million DEFINETELY has an advantage over a game like FF Versus 13 which is not related to FF13 in any way.

I am really saddened to see even you think FF Versus 13 has a chance at going over 5 million.

Ps3 will sell 1 million more than the 360 version at minimum.

The first Kingdom Hearts, which is essentialy a Spinoff game to Final Fantasy sold 5 mil, why shouldn't Versus?
The reason most Final Fantasy spinoffs don't sell that much is because they are, simply put, not quality games, Kingdom Hearts was a quality game with a lot of publication, and Versus won't be different.

Now the main difference between KH and V13 is that KH got some hype due to the combination of Disney and FF characters, I assume it will be equal to the hype Versus will get due to it being a part of the Nova Crystallis blah blah.

In the end, yes, I can see Versus selling KH numbers ~5.
