I personally have a very high expectation when it comes to the sales of the final fantasy series (spin-off or not).

I don't think that Versus will sell more than FF13 because I have a higher predication for FF 13 sales :) 

Also, I don't think it's fair to compare FF9 or FF12 to FF Versus 13.

You see, FF9 was the thrid FF entry in the playstation 1 generation, and it was released in 2000 (2001 in some countries) , the time that the ps2 was launched and less than a year before (Final fantasy X).

As for FF12, it was released in 2006 and (2007 in some other countries), the time that the next generation systems hit the market.

Because of that they both didn't sell well according to my Final fantasy sales standard. But that isn't the case with Versus, isn't it?

Also, Final Fantasy X-2 which is a sequel, sold around 4 mil world wide, why would versus not sell that much? 

Tack on the fact that the ps3 owners are in a very desperate need to a quality JRPG (a lot of us bought a PS3 for the JRPG), and you will see why FF Versus 13 will have a great sales.

But I guess we will have to wait and see.

Note: My friend here resent the RPG, he thinks that this genre ruined the gaming, and yet he found Versus to be enticing (from all the screenshots and trailers I showed him). Versus make a really good impression, and I really do think that it will beat expectations.

Final Fantasy X-2 was a sequel to FFX which sold around 8 Million.

It has a plot continuing on from FFX......

FF Versus 13 is not linked to FF13 directly, its a spin off. FFX-2 was a sequel, the only Final fantasy sequel there is.

There is a big difference between a sequel & a spin off.

Secondly -- It is fair to compare FF Versus 13 to FF9 & FF12, as you are saying it will sell in the same bracket

But historically, no spin off has ever sold the same as a main iteration game.....its never happend in the FF series (we are talking about post FF7 FF's here for obvious reasons) & its not really happened in other franchises either.

What you & many people are saying will require some kind of miracle that has never happened before in gaming. & this miracle will be happening ona  3rd/2nd place console which does not sell software as well as its predecessors or the other systems on the market currently.
