My whole thing is that it's not something you really have to worry about with PC either. I don't see gaming keyboards as something you'd be like "*gasp* You have a gaming keyboard!!? We're all boned! *disconnect*". Yes, I know you said your point isn't trying to be that extreme, but I still think it's making a bit of a stink out of something that's not that serious to begin with. Again, I'm not saying something misinformed like they don't offer any kind of improvement over the basic keyboard or mouse.
Though I hope that you can understand why I would disagree after reading,
"Console controls are more user friendly, less buttons to keep track of, no getting destroyed by the guy with the $300.00 lazer precision, fully customizeable, extra precise, wireless mouse and keyboard set."
and
"Dude, A really good mouse and a fully customizeable keyboard gives a person a pretty significant advantage."
Still, since you'd use a keyboard and mouse all the time and not just for games, I don't really see what would be so bad about getting something higher quality than the $15-20 basic set. At the very least, I'd probably recommend a good mouse. Especially in my case where a good gaming mouse, the Logitech G5, is the only mouse I use anymore and that includes games as well as software like Adobe products and Final Cut Pro where the only mice I'd otherwise have to use are the stupid one button mice or the slightly less stupid (and usually broken) mighty mice.
But alas, this is getting repetitive and stupid now. In the end, it's the cheaters that will have the clear and significant advantage :p
