Any idea how much WAR and Conan online might have had, how many preorders in America?

An MMO that's a "slightly improved WoW" will not work.

The most likely outcome for WoW's end involves Blizzard - they will either screw things up, or cannibilize it with their own new MMO.

@darth: According to wiki, it seems Warhammer Online had sold ~1.2mil copies in its first 12 days. Only 6 months after the game came out, they were down to ~300,000 subscribers...

It's got a long way to go before it's WoW. Wrath of the Lich King sold over 2.5 million copies first day.

nothing can stop a blizzard game except another blizzard game.

warcraft 2 would still be played right now if starcraft didn't come out.
starcraft is STILL being played now, and will probably only end when starcraft 2 comes out.
diablo only stopped when diablo 2 came out.
diablo 2 only stopped (actually a lot of people are still playing it) when WoW came out.
warcraft 3 is still the hottest LAN game right now (dota is still warcraft 3).
WoW will only stop when another blizzard MMO comes out.

so never predict against blizzard. there's no way any of their games can die if they don't want it to die themselves. as mentioned before, only WoW can kill WoW.

My friend has this. (Or, the Beta at least.)

Apart from the prettier graphics and more realistic character models, it looks and plays identical to WoW in almost every way.
