Forums - Gaming - Will Aion be the Death of WOW???

I doubt it.

From the vast majority of the people I know that have played Aion say it's shit. Not the shit, just shit.

But hey, at least it's pretty.

-edit-

And anyone that says WoW needs a graphical upgrade are really just flaunting how ignorant they really are.

Well I've played WoW for a little over 2 months and now I am in AION open Beta. And from what I've played of it I can tell that it's a better game than WoW: it does everything that WoW does, but has a better artstyle, better graphics, better music and some additional features like the ability to fly.

For sure, WoW fans are gonna be hating on that game (already are), but that only proves that for the 1st time WoW really got itself a serious competition. I dont think that AIOn will kill WoW, not so soon anyway, it will take WoW players some time to realize that there is a better game with similar gameplay out there.

Please, wow won't die so easily. Like was said before, wow is aimed at the masses. Aion is too cutting edge for its own good. By the time anyone can even play it, it will fade into the bottomless pit of other MMORPGs. The smart pc developer will aim wide with a scalable engine.

Look at Valve, its been like 6 years now and they are still using the same engine. Look at Counter-Strike, and Starcraft for that matter.

Only WoW will be the death of WoW.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Just started playing WoW last week, lvl 19. I doubt WoW will die until WoW2 comes out

LOL...absolutely not...tell me something...can you list out the reasons why someone, who has put in thousands of hours into WoW would jump to Aion? Graphics jsut aren't that important in MMO dude, and based on the game play trailer...and the funky outfits, I've got zero interest in Aion...and I'm a middle of the road wow player...so you can imagine the hardcore type...absolutely not. Right now, I'm playing Champion, because it's something TOTALLY different from WoW...AND because signing up for 6-months allows me into the Star Trek beta. For a MMO to top WoW...you'd better bring something completely refreshing...

Aion looks good, but the odds of it 'being the end of WOW' have to be pretty slim - I think the focus should be on seeing if the game finds a good, stable audience first before wondering whether it can reach WoW levels.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

At this point in time, the only person with a shot at killing WoW is Bobby Kotick. If he makes it $200 a month, the userbase could fall by as much as 20%.

Bring it on.

I've got a giant mech with long range laser beams.

I'll take out Aion before he even sees me coming.

Easily the best post of the thread.

Aion needs to go talk to WAR, Conan and a whole host of others who's userbase said many of the same things people are saying here...from what I've seen of Aion's gameplay...WoW has ZERO to worry about.
