NCsoft Europe head confirms PS3 MMO was tabled

The oft-hyped but never shown PS3 MMO in development by NCsoft is likely not to be. VG247 reports NCsoft's European Managing Director, Veronique Lallier, confirmed the company is "not working on anything at the moment." The executive stated that the "casual gaming" title the company was working on was "not something [it] continued, unfortunately."

The NCsoft PS3 MMO was first mentioned in the summer of 2007, with a follow-up announcement that the game would be announced by the end of that year. The following year, the company stated it would have "something to announce -- not only announce but to show -- by the second half of this year." Currently, NCsoft is "still looking at opportunities" for consoles. At least that two year charade is over.

I thought they had a CONTRACT with Sony?! lol What the hell?

It's really sad that almost no developer is able to make a MMO game for the HD consoles.
There were so many announcements and all of them got delayed (to infinity) or cancelled.

I think the term is "canned" or "shelved". There is no such term as "tabled"...lol

Parliamentary Procedure.

a. Chiefly U.S. to lay aside (a proposal, resolution, etc.) for future discussion, usually with a view to postponing or shelving the matter indefinitely.

Are MMOs that impossible on today's hardware, I mean, haven't they already been done? Even the PS2 had FF11, though I doubt it was anything for Square to brag about. Considering that, there should be no excuse for developer to not have MMOs on hardware that is significantly more powerful than their predecessors. Bring on the revolutionary MMOs!!
