Forums - Nintendo - Guitar Hero 5 on Wii is $60?!?

I remember something when Wii released that Nintendo had a pricing system in place for every one to abide by.  No games over $50 and sub par games would be no more than $40.  Am I crazy to remember this or was it true?  I can't believe Guitar Hero 5 selling for the same price as PS360 versions and the PS2 version is under $40.  I've never agreed with any games costing over $50 and I want this game but I'm content to wait until the price drops to $49.99 or less.  I'm voting with my dollars to keep games priced at $50 or less new.  What the consensus in here?  Am I really going crazy with this?

As far as I know, the MSRP is USD 50. If any retailer's price is over it, then it's retailers' responsability.

more games will start to be $60 in price. All GH games, and most likely CoD games.

Yeah, even Walmart lists GH5 for Wii at $60.

Yay for Activision eh?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Got a retro room? Post it here!

A couple of years ago Iwata did state that the price of games needed to come down to more accurately reflect what people are paying for, which is why Brain Training was priced lower than many full games, and is why the stand alone Wii Fit Plus will be as little as $20. In pursuit of profit though, many companies will be willing to test how high they can push prices.

It makes sense. The big cost of rhythm games isn't flashy HD graphics, it's licensing music. There's very little cost savings to be had by reducing the texture quality. And Activision isn't the kind of publisher to let revenues get away from them.

I'll be buying Rock Band, personally.

I've checked and, yes, I was wrong, the MSRP for the game is USD 60. Shame on you Activision. No more of my money for you.
