I don't get what all this baby seals stuff.
I see it every time I see a thread about FFXIII.

Every time someone uses amazon as a sales indicator, a baby seal gets killed.

God.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

apparently the people who have no reading comprehension and dont understand the OP nor this thread is meant to be an extrapolation of sales figures as a whole.

So amazon's popularity doesn't count? They are sales, no?

There must be some interest in the product if it's first on a popular website.. no?

Amazon is indeed a popular website, but not many people buy video games on there. Essentially if a game has a minor price drop, or a new game appears on the website, they will easily become #1 for a few days, sometimes random games make it really high on the rankings.

for example. Amazon Us.

Currently Disney's High School Musical is in the top 10.

If you were to compare Amazon top 100 to NPD top whatever, the correlation between the two would probably be 0.

Says the baby seals as they are clobbered to death.

Think of the seals.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

Just giving an idea of how well FFXIII should do, if the game is 3 months away from releasing and is already number 1 on one of the biggest retailers then that says something. I know just because a game is number 1 in Amazon doens't mean it's going to sell a lot (even though obivously FFXIII will).

But just letting everyone know, FFXIII is already number 1 on the Amazon list in Japan 3 months before it's released.
