Amazon is indeed a popular website, but not many people buy video games on there. Essentially if a game has a minor price drop, or a new game appears on the website, they will easily become #1 for a few days, sometimes random games make it really high on the rankings.
for example. Amazon Us.
Currently Disney's High School Musical is in the top 10.
If you were to compare Amazon top 100 to NPD top whatever, the correlation between the two would probably be 0.
