Forums - Microsoft - 2009- the worst year for 360 exclusives?

Some people have a very shallow way of thinking.
You think that a game has to be a 60 million dollar production blockbuster to be a good exclusive.

Splosion man, Shadow complex, Halo Wars, GTA4 Lost and Damned were all great. I can hardly find the time to play everything I want.

And honestly, you may not like halo 3 and nothing is wrong with that...but I played the campaign on legendary today for the 20th time (atleast)...with 3 buddies coop. When you play halo 3 like this with all features blazing...it is the must fun coop FPS this gen. PERIOD. Killzone 2, COD4 don't even compete with it since they dont have that feature. And that is before we get in to the MP, for which Halo 3 can goe toe to toe with any other FPS out there...

So what Im saying is...yeah, ODST is huge exclusive.

I know what you mean dude.  Halo 3 is still the go to game for me and my buds.

So it actually seems like a lot of members agree with me, that despite being a good year for the 360 it fails in comparisson to the last couple of years. I think for most people, what is lacking is a HUGE release such as gears 2 and Halo 3. Sure there is ODST but it's "just" an expansion of 3. While it will still be huge in sales, it doesn't have the same impact as a true sequal.

Or maybe some people just have a difference of opinion. That's not considered shallow. I didn't call any of the games bad, only that they didn't suite my taste and the budget on the games have absolutey nothing to do with my opinion of them.

So please, I haven't belittled any one elses opinions here, and I would apreciate it if I got the same respect.

The problem with Halo ODST, they just announced another Halo game coming next year and made it sound bigger. I do agree that I might be picky this year, but compared to the past two years, this year just seems less. I guess it is just me being spoiled.

Also I think next year is the best year for 360 ever. Mass Effect 2, Halo Reach, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell, Fable 3? and Gears of War 3 (Guessing), plus much more.

I am not trying to make it seme like your opinion is shallow...but I am jsut replying to your original post. You are saying basically "Xbox360 exclusives suck in 2009 cause games like Left 4 dead 2, ODST, Forza 3 aren't as good as other years."

All I am saying is that a game does not have to be visually leading, 40 million dollar marketting campaign...type of game to be considered good.

Raiden IV comes out for retail tomorrow...its exclusive on 360 and I am looking forward to it and will pay full retail price

Section 8 came out last week...exclusive for 360...great rental

Perfect Dark XBL is being released in coming months...great game.

GTA Balad of Gay tony looks amazing in the original preview.

There is more to gaming than MGS, Halo, Final Fantasy, Gears of War and Mario...but your original post makes it seem like all those games that aren't in the top 5 franchises for each console don't matter at all.

To tell you the truth both the 360 and PS3 will do very well in 2010, but the 360 will own that year. But to stay on point, you're telling me you have no intention of buying Left 4 Dead 2 even though it looks far superior to the last version? COD5 (Which will obviously be better on the 360), Halo Wars, Halo 3: ODST, Forza 3, Magna Carta 3, Shadow Complex, Ninety-Nine Nights II or Star Ocean 4? I'll admit that the PS3 had the strongest games of 2009 though, but 2010 will be the 360's for sure.

I don't have any intention to buy Left 4 Dead 2 or ODST unless after a rent they convince me otherwise. Which if L4D2 gives me the amount of content I expect from a full retail game and makes me forget that I felt ripped off the first time then I will certainly buy it as I really did love the first one. As for the other titles, I'm not interested in them at all as of now, except for shadow complex. I am going to buy that. I loved the demo. :) Also, COD5 i'm getting for ps3. My closest friends all game on the ps3 and other then some dlc maps as of now the 360 version isn't looking any better.

The 360 does have a good library this year. It can still be good and be the worst though as imo the 360 hasn't had a terrible year for exclusives.

I wouldn't give the 360 the title of 2010 yet. lol It will have an AMAZING year but there are so many games coming next year that haven't even been announced yet, and come on....GOD OF WAR III!!! lol But I'm a huge GoW fan. I'm really looking forward to Heavy Rain also. Mag I'm not very excited for, but I am for modnation Racers. So for me it's 3 for 3 right now. ;) But that is SO far away and SO much will be announced. I'll tell you what though, both my PS3 and 360 will be played A LOT next year. And that makes me happy. Hell, I might even play my wii again next year! :D

God of War 3 ( I know...this is the first God of War that i actually fork out the money to buy) will be great, but Mass Effect 2 will be better, longer, and most likely will be the most epic game of 2010. The full hot list for the 360 is Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Alan Wake, Crackdown 2, Fable 3, Gears of War 3, Halo Reach, Mech Warrior and Kingdom Under Fire 2. Some release dates might be announced, but not enough to destroy what I think will be the 360's most dominant year. My most anticipated game this year right now is Uncharted 2 though which will be GOTY 2009.

I'm sorry, but where did you get the opinion that I'm only interested in big budget games? Many of the titles that I said I wasn't interested in were big budget and the oen game that I'm the most interested in of all of 09 for the 360 is shadow complex, a xbla title. Sure, I might have mentioned that I'm looking forward to some sequals coming out but those are the safest bets for the future. It's easier to say that I can't wait for the sequal to a game that I loved and cherished when it was a new ip then it is to say I can't wait for a new ip that has yet to release or prove itself and I also mentioned how much I'm looking forward to new ips such as alan wake, heavy rain, and modnation racers. Heck, you were even the one talking about how awesome and epic a big budget sequal was (halo 3), not me.

My original post was talking about how I had little interest in any 360 exclusives this year compared to previous years, not that big games are better then small ones. Where and how you inferred that is beyond me.

That's not fair, all consoles have excellent exclusives, just not as much as the Wii.

As awesome as Mass Effect 2 will be, for me, Alan Wake has the potential to be the best 360 exclusive of next year. But don't listen to me, I'm a huge silent hill 1&2 fan and I thought that alone in the dark had the potential to be an INCREDIBLE game (which it did have the potential, it just didn't use it just fell apart at execution and ended up being TERRIBLE)
