Forums - Nintendo - What game will be the 9th million seller Wii game?

People don't compare a bad Mario game with a good Mario game! If ever compare it with Mario64 not Sunshine. New Super Mario Bros or whatever but lets all forget about Sunshine... that never happened.

Believe it or not I loved Sunshine infact dare I say I loved it almost as much if not more then Mario64.

Now I'm not speaking Blasphemy. I liked Mario64 but it was also my biggest dissapointment of the 64. I was sitting at home thinking of how awsome it was going to be guliping up goombas and spitting them all over. Flying up and using Yoshi's tongue in a 3D enviroment. My favorite asset of the 2D series was Yoshi gameplay it added so many dynamics. I am not joking I wanted to see a true Super Mario World sequal in 3D and I was dreadfully dissapointed. That being said I still loved Mario64 but to this day it is not even in my top three Mario games.

Super Mario Sunshine wasn't the Super Mario World 3D I have been longing for either. However it did have Yoshi incorporated back into the gameplay. Now you can't take Yoshi everywhere and use him in most levels but his simple existance made Sunshine worth it. I loved the platforming just as much as I did in Mario64 and the plot was actually decent despite it being recycled they managed to keep it intresting. In the end it had everything Mario64 did but with Yoshi. Of course Flud wasn't exactly welcomed and I never really liked using the jetpack flying style.

That being said I'm not looking forward to Galaxy as much as I loved Sunshine either. it looks amazing cutting edge and disruptive totally radicalizing Mario. But I don't want a radicalized Mario I'm still waiting for my 3D Super Mario World. That being said seeing Magikoopa and some of the other MarioWorld characters making a comeback I am still intrested.

I can't wait for Galaxy but jumping from planet to planet just doesn't appeal to me as much as a new 3D Super Mario World would. To be honest I'm very concerned that this new style of play will only harm Mario. But I am optamistic that it will be a good game just not a good Mario game.

 My top 3 Mario games

1.Super Mario World

2.Super Mario Bros 3

3.Super Mario Sunshine

I've started seeing more MP3 adverts on TV here in England recently.

* 70,000 copies more for Strikers to strike one million* RE4 seems to be stuck at 820,000... One week till Mario Galaxy releases in Japan. Strikers has a chance...

Wii Code: 4819-7684-2396-4558

From IGN: http://wii.ign.com/articles/830/830564p1.html

Big Brain Academy Wii is at 1.8 million and Mario Strikers is at 1.3 million so the Wii now has 10 million sellers. I don't know if these numbers mean shipped to retailers but I'm assuming so. Nevertheless, it's pretty much an assurance that Strikers is already a million seller meaning that Galaxy will probably be the 11th million seller.

Nintendo may have meant Twilight Princess instead of Big Brain. Unless, they include all of the controller+Big Brain bundles they have made up but have yet to sell. Something seems off.

I agree that things do seem off. At first I thought this implied that these million sellers are for a certain period, but then the wii sports results do not correspond. I find it hard to believe that Nintendo would mistake Twilight Princess for Brain Academy, but typos do happen. But if that were true, only 1.8 for TP does seem low. It could also mean that they just wanted to show numbers for these certain games and not include those for either Tp or Super Paper Mario which is most likely also a million seller. But with Nintendo, sometimes we just never know.

Yeah I looked at the link and it didn't make a lot of sense. Wouldn't TP be in the 2+ million range by now (WW) and wouldn't Super Paper Mario be at around 1.3 million? Ya gotta admit though, that's pretty impressive sales wise for the Wii's first year. This really puts to rest that the Wii games don't sell. Having 10 million sellers really reinforces that Wii game sales are actually really good.

Now that we know Nintendo is aiming for 23.5 million Wii's by March 08... how many million sellers will there be by March? 15-20?

That is shipped to stores, not sold to consumers.

I still don't get why Nintendo priced Big Brain Academy so high. I would have gladly picked it up for 20-30$ but full price for what equates to the same kind of stuff I can get on my DS for much less is ridiculous!

Saw this in the IGN comment section,

>Just to put everyone's mind at rest, the sixth title is Super Paper Mario with 1.74m. In regards to Wario Ware and Zelda, these didn't sell more than a million copies in the last sales period. However, overall they have (just look at March 2007 sales figures at http://w ww.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2007/070427e.pdf and you will see at that point in time, Zelda had sold 3.27m and Warioware 1.69m) [-] Minimize Comment
