We can infer from the headline on this site that the PS3 sales for the week should be even higher than the approx. 500,000 reported.  This is because the headline clearly states the Slim PS3 sold that many.  That doesn't take into account any "fat" PS3s that were snatched up in the same period.  I didn't think of this until I read IGN's article on Japanese PS3 Slim sales.  They mention how many were Slim and how many were "fat".  The number of fat in Japan were extremely low due to "fat" PS3's being very hard to find.  I don't know how hard "fat" PS3's were to find in NA and others, so we may see a decent increase over and above the 500,000 number.

Here's the relevant quote from IGN.  "For the week of August 31 through September 6, total sales for the PS3 platform as a whole reached 150,832 units. Of these, 150,252 were from the slim, which arrived on Thursday."

The number for "fats" was extremely low in Japan due to virtually no "fats" being available and no price cut to the "fats".  I don't know if they were hard to find in NA and others.  I do know that in NA and others, the "fat" was priced same as Slim.  It could be a decent boost over the initially reported Slim-only numbers.

Really? felt that the 360 is more like the dreamcast while the PS3 is still PS2... Dreamcast came out like a year before PS2, used old media CDs while PS2 was coming with DVDs, white colour etc...hehe

And a bwc PS3 is still the new PS2 =P

I would think about 40,000 "fats" were sold last week worldwide.

Although do we really know that the 500,000 figure was just for Slim, or both fat and slim?

I just want to know how many units Valkyria Chronicles were sold in Japan this week.

^ Nick: VC got a very good boost in NA last week. In fact it got the best boost of any existing software on the NA charts I think. I too am hoping for a similar boost in Japan.

Totally off topic. I too am trying to get platinum on Uncharted. I have everything except Charted on Crushing. Taking me ages to get through some of those fire fights and I'm only just up to chapter 6. Gonna be a long hard slog and I get the feeling this will be the one and only game I go for platinum on.
