they only reduced the phat ps3's to clear stock, the slim ps3 uses cheeaper components therefore chopping the cost of the ps3, why all the hate.. now ps3 is at a price we all can afford, be happy not jealous.

I think Sony knew this this was going to be big, I mean no retailer is reporting PS3 slim selling out around the globe but Sony managed to sell 500k in a week, how come? because Sony anticipated the surge and delivered enough stock. And I think they know that it will be bigger in the coming weeks. A few months ago we had articles like this:

Well sony were rumored to have shipped 2 million PS3's in a months time, I mean if they did have the console in stock shortly after launch, then clearly they knew they were going to have alot of demand
