Forums - Gaming - So when does Final Fantasy X pick up a little bit?

It has been a long time since I've played it, but if I remember right, I thought it picked up once you got the whole party together. I also really enjoyed the game once I got to play Blitzball.

Oh, and before you get too exited about the Sphere Grid, I thought that it moved antagonizingly slow for my taste.

That's ind of my impression so far, too, but we'll see. I've dealt with plenty of level-up systems in my time, and it's nice if for nothing more than its novelty.

Summons are a big part of this game. Once you've got a few of them things will start getting interesting. And the sphere grid (when you get the hang of it) can make leveling up pretty addictive.

That reminds me of something.

I have a friend who filled the entire Sphere Grid for every character.

I've never been a believer in the "it picks up after so and so hours" thing - in my experience, it isn't true for games in general, and it damn sure isn't true for this series.

But I'll go back to playing, now, and find out.

I disagree that with three simple examples: Persona 3, 4 and Suikoden V. You barely fight anything for the first couple of hours (in Suikoden V's case, almost 10), so it may seem slow. Though I loved the introduction phases of those three games, I can see if someone gets bored. And then, magically, they pick up seriously

I haven't played those games but that sounds excruciatingly bad.  I understand some of these games need to introduce a lot of content but sometimes too much is just too much.

the game picks up after you reach zanarkand in my opinion. I'd rather have good gameplay over a cliche story like ToS.

I'm not sure what you mean.

Tales of Symphonia has a very cliche story and gameplay such that one character is nearly capable of beating the game on his own with one move.

If you look at a lot of games stories they are pretty cliche.

Just look at something like FFVI.  It's often referred to as one of the best RPG's out there for its story and characters and if you look at the story it really isn't anything special.  It's mainly the characters and how they change that make it special.

I always thought that FFX was a bad game. The only thing I liked about it was how you switch characters in a fight. That added unparalleled depth to the otherwise standard battles (as I remember it, haven't played it in years).

So really, I'm not sure it actually picks up. But it does get a bit better than that horrible opening.

This is invisible text!

one thing I hated about FFX was that the characters start loosing the strategic purpose later on

Guilty. It's not that hard once you change the nodes.

Quem disse que a boca é tua?

Qual é, Dadinho...?

Dadinho é o caralho! Meu nome agora é Zé Pequeno!

@xxain

not if you "pretend" they are in their job classes throughout the game

Thats what I did.....I got some white magic for tidus (cure) & black magic for kimahri later on....but I NEVER used em...

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

FFX has the worst final boss ever. I'm just throwing this out there. And I'm not comparing it to just FF games... Every game I played... FFX is the worst of them all. But I thoroughly enjoyed the game. God... the final boss was so bad.
