Forums - Gaming - So when does Final Fantasy X pick up a little bit?

The story does start slow but it really picks after 5 hours. At worst, the voice acting is somewhat forced but not actually bad and there is that one cringe worthy laughing scene but to be fair, it is actually slightly worse in the Japanese version. There are some genuinely good voices in the game in particular, Rikku and Auron. I do agree about the lip syncing but to be fair yet again, this was the first game Square made that actually needed lip syncing. FFX is not the only JRPG to start slow in fact even many of the great ones do. Persona 4 took 5 hours before they would actually let you do social links, an integral feature in the game. Heck, I heard SOTLH took 20 hours to get going and even heard from others that it never really took off at all.

I'd love to post some examples(non FF related), lol, but I've been asked not to. Let me just say that almost everyone new to srpg hates it at first. Some FF games are like that. FFX might be like that for you. Either way, the end game gameplay is well worth the effort, assuming you're a stat maxer.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Star Ocean 3 took incredibly long to finally start

It took 10 hours before the first plot twist was shown (where *SPOILERS* It is revealed that Fayt is a genetically altered weapon at birth *SPOILERS END*) and I am not talking about "THE SO3 plot twist"

i do like FFX but the story is pretty straight forward it doesn't get very exciting

I don't remember the game too much anymore, but I recall it be very linear, You never really have much freedom in the game to do much. The story is solid enough that it is worth playing, and it has a few memorable scenes in the game. I would agree with a earlier poster that stated the Sphere System is really the best part of the game, and it becomes enjoyable having a control with the path your character learns magic. Wakka never really picks up though, he is always annoying

I've never been a believer in the "it picks up after so and so hours" thing - in my experience, it isn't true for games in general, and it damn sure isn't true for this series.

But I'll go back to playing, now, and find out.

I quit Final Fantasy X about halfway through.  It never picked up, it never got better, it just kept going on and on.

I have more fun games to play for 30 hours.

Stop whining about it and go back to play it.

-edit- yes sometimes someone have to say it

the game picks up after you reach zanarkand in my opinion. I'd rather have good gameplay over a cliche story like ToS.

when u get shiva.
it gets crazy.
now i want to replay it =D
