Forums - Sony - XMB - Whats New?

Whats the purpose of What's New? They released it Sept.1, i didn't like it but thought, wth.. lets see how it will work after Thursdays update. Thursday came and the What's New "recommended" me the same thing it did Sept.1!? I went to PlayStation Store to see what had been released, and there were a Fight Night demo, a theme and some add ons. But non of that was in the What's New!?

So whats the point in having it if its not supported or updated?

The old version of "Whats New" prior to the 3.0 patch, that info bar thingy, also kept showing really old news. Like what had been updated onto PSN 3weeks earlier. And in August it recommended us to to visit their website and read about the new gameplay footage of Uncharted 2 from E3 etc. If they decide to name it Whats New, keep it updated with new stuff! Right now they might aswell just call it "PSN ADS".

Well thats my rant..

Around the Network

very odd.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 > Modern Warfare 2

your rant is justified imo.
It is just a space to make particular game and add content shown more clearly in the xmb.
Sure new stuff will be added- but only if Sony sees selling power in that new item.

LIke for example, I expect Fat Princess to remain up on the whats new section and as the header in the games section for some time because of how popular it is.

̶3̶R̶D̶   2ND! Place has never been so sweet.

I think it'll eventually be like the "What's New" area on the 360's display (meaning: worth a damn). In the meantime, like much of Sony's offerings, we get to watch it evolve.

I turned it off on my XMB......yet, it's still there!

I find it a bit useless...

turning it off prevents it from being the starting point when u first turn on the system.

what im happy is that loading times are not much now.
i tested it out on Trash panic (that game had very very long loading times) and now its perfect.

i dont like it i just dont see the point of... if i had control over the XMB id get rid of it and the PS store in the game section im not lazy i can press left twice and use the old one
