10 year life cycle seems very likely to me (maybe with a PS3 3.5 down the road). Beating PS2's lifecycle, maybe so but depends on how long the PS2 is going to be on the market and how the market develops from there on (especially regions of less influence at this point).

Well, us, who are not you, seem to find it very unlikely.

I'd like to track down the Fantasy World you live in so I can have my dreams come true as well.

you have no logical defense. Your defense is "Because it won't happen in my mind"

That's an interesting point-of-view, but it ignores one very simple fact... obsolescence of computer/electronic devices occurs more quickly with each generation, not more slowly. If MS or Nintendo decided to release a new console platform in 4 years, they could probably make it twice as powerful as the PS3 for much less than twice the cost.

Making something "future-proof" isn't possible with consoles, any more than it is with computers.

Well, he has no shred of logic to his prediction, so I didn't want to break the trend.

really?

another Ps3 slim.....why would they do that?

Why wouldnt they?

Lets face it, the PS3 isnt exactly "Slim" now. And could be made much slimmer, and thus get more sales.

Removing the power brick would likely make it much slimmer, and in say, 2-3 years time the components needed for a PS3 will be smaller too, im guessing. Not to mention, it could get Sony some more of that money back what they have lost.

EDIT: AND to help it last for that 10-year plan.

and... what devs will work with the console? HW pushes SW... a system just starting out with 0 user base with games starting to cost 20 million at the cheapest.

If you have a 60GB launch PS3, a R&C game with that same feature is probably available at your local game store for $20

1) I don't have a 60GB launch PS3

2) I don't live in America, and you should know this by now.

3) I already own a PS2 with TWO games with those multiplayer features.

4) I want a game with multiplayer features used OVER PSN. It should be a lot easier with the online system already there, so there's no excuse. If Naughty Dog with 90 people can make a top-class single player campaign AND co-op and competitive multiplayer, why can't Insomniac do the same with 200 people? It's all thanks to that damned Resistance franchise. I hope Resistance 2 taught them a lesson- stick to what you're good at.

Point noted! (lol)

@carl

hmmm......I guess you are correct in saying tht

besides PSP has had 2 major hardware revision (PSP-2000 & PSP GO!.....no PSP-3000 doesn't really count)

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

If you asked any more about another revision i'd point you in the direction of the PSP

Its possible.
