Forums - Nintendo - There is no reason why Wii's online cannot meet or exceed Xbox 1 levels

There is no reason why it shouldnt already be at that level, or exceeding it.

You people fail to understand the amount of processing power required to properly run an online component of a console. The wii does not have the power to run an OS like the ps3/360 does. Online will never be the same as the HD twins.

You do realize that it already does run an OS. That is why you can exit any game at any time(with the exception of cutscenes) by pressing the home button. Also I don't remember anybody mentioning the HD Twins.

it does run an OS, but any more than that will be very hard on the system.

LMFAO, xD wth are you talking about man.... I hate the wii had it for a couple of month and sold it, but what your trying to say is completely nonesense.... starcraft runs on a 133 mhz computer or maybe less i had a 166mhz cpu back in the day it was launched and i could play online... wth do you think that the wii cant have the amount of processing power required to run an online component... plz dont try to be smart, you only making yourself look terrible... The problem with nintendo is that they dont care about the online component, as they are hitting another market, and for me that sucks because i like competitive games so the wii is not for me, but man... just....

and battle.net is great... you can have the same for the wii if u want but with everygame and it would be demanding belive me i know what i am talking about (of course it cant be as sofisticated as the other console online sistem, but it can run an online component if they want to make it)

Do you really think that Nintendo can't make an extremely efficient OS system? There are many things you can do to make it work even if the power is thin. The comparison is to the original XBOX anyway. The Wii has more, and faster ram than the Xbox so it should run an OS much better than the Xbox does. With optimization, even close to as good as the 360 or PS3's. It doesn't matter though because most of the features are completely useless for a gaming system imo. Maybe that is why I can't grasp why everybody recommends the online of the 360 or PS3. PC exceeds both in the area  that matters, Online Multiplayer.

True that, PC online FTW!

I'd be happy with removal of game centric FC codes and only use Wii codes, plus unlimited WiiSpeak only limited via parental controls. Then each game can be used like Conduit with a click on the menu and insta-add a friend. That would work for me.

It should now be painfully obvious that Nintendo just isn't that into sophisticated online play. They only want simple features with overly complicated setup. I held out for a long time waiting for them to get their online in gear, but it ain't going to happen.

Wii developers are lazy, bar a few. No desire to raise the bar.

The word is "incentive"

Someone is saying that they're not changing their mind with their lastest moves (free internet, WSR facebook app); IMO their are trying to see if the online is so important for their gamers, and if they found it true, they'll do whatever the Wii needs in Online.

Doing all this in only one update would create some problems and they've never done an update so big, but if they divide it in 2 or more phases, selling the new Wiis with already all done, it would be great.

Every months there are improvements, I believe online will be one of this before the end of the next FY.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)
