The color schemes bother me. Analogous browns and greys are way overdone. It's to the point that I can't even look at Gears of War or Resistance without getting sick to my stomach. For that reason I'm never going to touch Killzone 2 even when I get a PS3. It needs some life... some vibrant color.

You know as well as i do that darker colors make it more realistic half the time. That and its a opinion, i kinda agree with you, though i could easily argue this has more color then Gears etc.

Thats why i hate it when people dig into colorful games cause they are not "as realistic". Its a personal choice

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Looks awsome. In the new vid the main character seems like he's wandering the city with a hangover or something :)

PS360 ftw!

Currently playing..........

Gears of War 2, GTA IV Lost and Damned, Little Big Planet (Yes I said I had no interest but my girl wanted to try it and we did and now Im hooked )

There are definitely more colors in Lost Odyssey. They've shown mostly in-game fighting on a desolate battlefield in the first trailer, which is why everything is darker and bland. I do believe you scale mountains and countrysides, though, so there should be some vibrant colors. And the score is, of course, fantastic with Uematsu at the helm.

Right, but you should know me well enough by know to know that realistic has never been what I look for. As far as realism goes, it's gorgeous. The music is absolutely great as expected of Uematsu. The visual style though just isn't to my tastes. I mean the closest thing to realistic that I have ever enjoyed is probably Half-Life 2, but it actually has a lot of really diverse environments and the color swatches range from the standard browns, to deep purples and analogous blues, to bright beaches, to surreal alien light blues.

My point is just to this point I've seen a lot of brown and grey and it's been bothering me. I obviously won't judge the entire game until I see more.

How can it dissapoint, weve barely seen anything of the game in english.

YOu do know they are doing a thing in november, holding a event, where you can play the game, and uematsu is doing a concert right? If again there is nothing such as summons or anything like that i guess you can break it down, but if sakaguchi did summons AND limit breaks, it would be a complete FF clone, which is fine, but some might degrade it for that.

Errr, seeing your own enemies, of course you can? I dont understand what you are talking about

Old school yes, but doing it well and looking KICK ASS, and giving new ideas, is what LO is trying to do, it was made for rpg fans, sakaguchis own words.

In terms of plot, we understand a little, though not much, if you watched any of the trailers, you can have an idea who the bad guy is. And who cares if we do know? I dont want the game to be spoiled, i dont understand why you do. YOuve got to be joking with the FF 13 thing, we know alot more about Kaim and his buddys, seriously has to be a joke.

O so thats what you mean with enemies showing, ok, you dont know that have you played?

Again why would you want it to be a complete FF clone, and im sure summons etc will show up somehow, just not exactly the same as FF. Again stop judgeing the game, if again in november or when it comes out there is nothing you can dig into it.

Again your judgeing way to early, WAY to early.

-Show me a trailer where it shows an enemy that would have any relevance to the plot besides that boss fight thats midway through the game.

-Before final fantasy X came out we new the villian was sin. did that spoil anything?

-Sakaguchi also said something along the lines of "ff12 sucks" in one of his interviews. Yes 12's story sucked hardcore but good ol sakaguchi was talking about the battle system if i recall, which IMO was a breath of fresh air to the series. I take everything he says with a grain of salt. Yes, he a genious in terms of games but everyhing he says is not gospel truth and nor will it be. He disses SE for being somewhat innovative with12 but what has he done with LO to make it so much more inovative than 12? Or blue dragon for that matter?

-When it came to the ff13 thing i said i exaggerated. But honestly what do u know that the rest of us dont about kaim and his buddies? Theyve lived for along time. Has random memories. Has connections to that pendelum tower thing. Other than that I dont know crap and want u to fill me in since u know everyhting about LO.

-I also stated that i never played LO.

-Also what the hell new does LO bring? The press the trigger before you attack? Correct me if im wrong but didnt ff8 have that?

- I dont know if you noticed or not but this game is an ff clone. I have no doubt in my mind MS went to sakaguchi with a f*** ton of money and said something along the lines "hey uh we noticed that dragon quest and final fantasy is a big deal in japan and you like created final fantasy...if we gave u alot of cash would u mind making us some games like that cause ya know we struggle in japan. For s***s and gigles we'll fund your projects and give you your own studio." Blue dragon is the dragon quest clone. LO is the final fantasy clone. You foolin if u think otherwise.

Lost tears of kaim did u read my post or just skim it? Look dude i respect ur opinion, i really do but dont sit there like this game is the second coming and going to "pwn" the final fantasy series. It has potential to rival them and its still my most anticipated game this console generation more so than halo 3 was but unless they make some announcements or give some information i will question on whether or not it will be great or average. Right now im leaning toward average.

Kain, my bad

It looks good. I just hope it has a decent showing in the land of the rising sun where it sill be initially released...

Exactly why do you need to know the majority of the enemies and plot to enjoy Lost Odyssey? When we had the Final Fantasy 7 demo, we knew litterally nothing about the boss (outside of Shinra), when proved false, and we loved it.

Did you even play Blue Dragon before you say it had no innovation? Admittedly, it followed the traditional JRPG format, but there was plenty of innovation in the Charge System to give turn-based RPGs a huge breath of fresh air.

As much as you want to bash not knowing anything about LO's storyline, thats your fault, not ours.

That has some information about Lost Odyssey, and some decent info from May 2005!

Basically, as far as we know about the story (as far as I can think of, off the top of my head):

The game starts well into Kaim's 1000-year life. As far as my understanding is, it starts with a recent meteor explosion (citing the first US trailer for the game) that wiped out thousands of soldiers - except for Kaim - leaving the country to question his origins. He doesn't remember anything due to this, therefore his EXP and skills are so low at the beginning.

Anything pre-game, storywise, are in text-based sequences that'll explain his 1000-year journey in 34 sequences, lasting 5-10 minutes each (or in other words, 3-6hrs).

http://www.n4g.com/xbox360/News-74269.aspx

This shows the first few seconds of it - enough to know the CG scenes are ungodly.

Lost Odyssey brings um.....An actual story penned by a writer, not a gamer? That might help, since JRPGs are mostly story-focused. It brings killable PCs, which VERY few games have had. So if Seth, or any other major character dies in battle, they die for good. Or did you not know that? That seems pretty innovative for a top-tier RPG.

Did you even play Blue Dragon? I'm just wondering, you seem to bash Mistwaker, but as far as I can tell, you never did any research into Mistwaker and Sakaguchi post-Final Fantas. S-E screwed him over. So what if he makes games that are similar to Final Fantasy? He made the entire series from the ground up, he has a right to do his games his way. If anything, FFXIII will be a Lost-Odyssey ripoff, not the other way around.

Also, FF8 didn't have any sort of active-attack system unless it was later in the game. SMRPG had one, and Eternal Sonata has an active defense system, but FF never did, to my knowledge.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Lets see what i can do here.....

1.http://www.gametrailers.com/player/24982.html-----WHen you watch this, you will knowtice that there is betrayal in the video, we dont understand what they are saying but hes evil alright.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/25295.html You will knowtice he appears in this video as well, so he has to be important, also there are other possible dark figures

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/25322.html ---- these figures talk about this whoever he is becoming a god? Sounds important to me, big time

2.Again who cares, its giving us enough info, and the game isnt out yet, and i want it to be secret

3.Innovative? I never said it was THAT innovative, but gave a few little new details to a old basic rpg style. Also the new SE battle system was interesting, but i felt like i played it in other games. Sakaguchi again said in a recent article, the game is just for rpg lovers, its nothing new

4. Mr stick hit this one good, theres tons of stuff, just watch the videos, and if thats not enough (should be PLENTY) then read some of the many interviews.

5. Yes ff 8 had it, and Legend of dragoon, but hes bringing it in, and adding little things to it, so no its not completely innovative, but its something kinda new, and we havent seen it in a while

6. Of course its a FF clone, i never stated otherwise, but i stated i dont want it to get completely bashed BECAUSE its a ff clone, i would love for it to be the same, i jsut dont want it to be called "failed FF clone" if it doesnt do so well

7. I never stated that, your puting words in my mouth, it looks to be a solid game though, and FF 13 still (so far) looks more interesting to me, but that doesnt effect that LO is my top game of 08 (ff 13 most likely 2009)

8. Even if the game is great, it will most likely get mediocre reviews, thats because for some danm reason, alot of sites just dont like jrpgs, and always rate them low (except FF, to much hype and its a really good jrpg usually) Thank goodness for game informer, they actually have jrpg fans review it, not pure boneheads. They gave blue dragon a honost score in my opinion (9?), and i cant wait for their review. Again in terms of reviews i expect high 80s, hopefully, but it will still be a AAA title to many of us
