You know as well as i do that darker colors make it more realistic half the time. That and its a opinion, i kinda agree with you, though i could easily argue this has more color then Gears etc.

Thats why i hate it when people dig into colorful games cause they are not "as realistic". Its a personal choice

There are definitely more colors in Lost Odyssey. They've shown mostly in-game fighting on a desolate battlefield in the first trailer, which is why everything is darker and bland. I do believe you scale mountains and countrysides, though, so there should be some vibrant colors. And the score is, of course, fantastic with Uematsu at the helm.
