Forums - PC - NEW Age of Empires on the way (KING of SRPG's RETURNS?)!! -- Rumor

^ Company of heroes is like the ultimate realism RTS that I have waited for. And it certainly is innovative. (Yes, I have looked it up now) So I can actually see compare very well to AoE2 since that was a game I also played for it's feeling of realism (at the time)

But there is only one perfect RTS according to my values, and these videos will show why.

This was the best I could find for those two.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Anyhow, if it does go to the 360, I hope Microsoft can nail down a full-blow RTS title for the 360.

God NO ! that'd be awful ! It needs to be on PC.

No it definatly should not go to PC. PC has enough RTS games including many for more suited for the platform like the Total War series.  Age of Empires is a very simple RTS game, the PC deserves better but it's perfect for consoles. And if they do make it for the 360 then they could build it around Natal which would be great because I always wanted to controle my RTS games that way. Especially Black and White but I think EA owns that license or did Microsoft get it along with Lionhead?

nice find.
I think is true, Age of Empires was too big to let it die.

But a PC version is a must. Perhaps even only a PC version since don't see many people buying 360 RTS after so many quality failures. And they need a MS dx11 game to brand windows 7 with.

Your forgetting Halo Wars, it sold fantastic and it prepared 360 owners for other RTS games. Another big title liek AoE would be a great way to continue the RTS console take over. Microsoft has done it before with FPS and WRPG so I think they can do it again, especially with Natal which is definatly better to controle RTS games then the controller. Granted it would take a different kind of RTS game then PC owners are used to but that doesn't mean it's a lesser form, unlike the controller RTS games which obviously were dumped down PC RTS games.

^ Halo wars sucked and sold badly for a Halo game.

RTS will never move to consoles from PC, and FPS will always be much better on PC. Even if Natal is a success hotkeys are still needed. This is one genre that won't become casualized by consoles!

I agree.

As much as i love and support consoles and would like them to conquer all genres, this is the perfect truth. FPS and RTS is PC.

Actually, yes it does. Halo Wars was a toned down and simplified RTS. If AOE were to go down that route then it'd be like pissing on the franchise.

I think the word you're looking for is traditional, not simple. And no, it really would never work on a console. No matter how good Natal is it just will not work. You need a keyboard for the hotkeys and the grouping of units, and quite frankly, I can't remember vids too well but I don't remember an accurate and quick enough pointing device with Natal.
