Forums - Sales - PS3 most certainly undertracked.

I said that some of the excess inventory could be in store shelves, shipments or warehouses. No more, no less.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

But Sony does not count a PS3 shipped to a Sony warehouse as a sale.

If it's shipped to a Best Buy or WalMart warehouse, then sure, they do.

I also got very suspicious after the 360 got the huge adjustment up, i knew there was something wrong, I think the ps3 is undertracked in PAL territories.

VGChartz is off by a small percentage. SO What. It's the only site on the NET where they track things even remotely accurate to whats really going on. Honestly Fuck Kotaku for even posting something like that. I'd like to see them track sales data half as well as VGC

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Yes, the PS3 sold out completely in my area before the PS3 slim launched.

IMO sadly VGChartz has a habbit of overtracking the XBox 360 and undertracking the PS3 on a global scale (this since the beginning). Overtracking and undertracking fluctuate with regard to Japan/US, but for the rest of the world the 360 is usually well overtracked and the PS3 significantly undertracked.

If you add up the numbers VGChartz often claims there are way more PS3s on the shelves at retail than there are 360s on the shelves. This while PS3 (fat) boxes are way bigger and thus that would mean retail dedicating a whole lot more space to the PS3 than to the 360.

But in reality in my country you usually see there are well more 360s left in stock and they are selling slower with various different models. The lowest entry pricing units sell faster than the elite, the 360 is always in stock around here. But I have seen holiday units (119 Euro incl. 19% taxes and with free games) which still weren't sold many months later (they had a sticker covering up the holiday pricing).

And I think the same is true for PS2 vs Wii as well as PSP vs NDS.

At least the PS2 is horribly undertracked on a global scale. It even significantly outsold the PS3 and 360 last quarter, but sadly VGChartz data didn't reflect that.

Mike B you will always make ridiculous claims like that in favour of any Sony game machine/product. Unless you can back up your claims you should not try and stir things up on this site.

The guy who made this outrageous thread man you need to seriously stop doubting the sales numbers on this site you are a guest and can easily be kicked off. Another day and another PS3 is undertracked thread.

VGChartz does a good job and they are the only tracking site who update their numbers weekly and do the best they can to ensure their numbers are as accurate as possible.

@ numonex

There are facts in my posting above.

- Adding up the figures, according to VGChartz there are more PS3s available at retail than 360s.
- PS3 (fat) boxes are bigger than 360 boxes.

1+1 makes 2, so retail according to VGChartz dedicates a whole lot more space to the PS3 according to VGChartz.

I am not dissing VGChartz' efforts, but I do hope they at some point are able to indentify the error.

According to VGChartz figures the PS2 is in stock at retail at similar figures as VGChartz states the 360 sold its entire launch year (that includes a holiday season). Doesn't that sound a bit off to you? Certainly, I believe there are way more PS2s at retail than PS3s and 360s, they are supplied in small boxes requiring less storage, but still it's obvious the figures are way off.

Ahh for a second I thought my tag would be meaningless ever since the ps3 is undertracked guy left (don't remember his name, starts with a D). Atleast you guys give it hope after all.

@disolitude
That HMV has everything, last year around March they even had 60gb models.

I still see several Fat ps3's at my local stores. Don't believe MikeB. I know most of you were already smart enough to do so, but i'm saying this for the new people ;)
