So what we have learned with the launch of the ps3 slim :

The gap between the ps3 shipped and sold is much smaller than VGc estimated. In less than 15 days, the stock of ps3 fat disappeared. And sony doesn't sold 750k ps3 in 15 days

That means the ps3 is clearly underestimated right now.

The effect of the slim will be not strong until the second week of september, in japan, no price cut since the 3th.

At the end of september, with the released of halo, the fight will be epic between the 360 and the ps3.

vary good for ps3 jumping from 35k to 70k and also good for 360 to see a rise

WoW ps3 increased 85% this week even tho it's not a official release of slim....Good job.

Just as a side note ...

While the PS3 slim does not officially release until the next week, the biggest benefit from the PS3 slim is the lower price and the regular PS3 was at that price for the entire week. We won't know for (roughly) a week how it turned out, but I wouldn't be surprised if the PS3 sells to the same level or lower next week

I overpredicted PS3 by 25k and underpredicted 360 by 25k. I honestly didn't think the Elite price cut would have that much of an effect >_<

I think the street date was well and truely broken and the retailers selling early seemed to be important US retailers.

The problem with this false start is it may give the wrong impression of the effectiveness of the price cut so I will wait for a couple of full weeks numbers before deciding if anybody has owned anybody.

It would be interesting to know what companies broke the street date or had the option to sell early. I am from out of town and can only remember the Best buy advert but what about Amazon and the specialist game stores are they in this select few retailers list?

The early release could take some of the wind out of the official release (spreading it over two weeks). If Wii doesn't drop this week it should be around the same as PS3, possibly above or below. If PS3 doesn't grow next week and I'm skeptical that it will after the street date being broken and well known, it may not beat it then either.

I thought it would beat Wii for one week (didn't count on a broken street date), some others said zero. It would be quite funny if this causes them to be correct, although it's about equally likely that it will beat Wii for two weeks because of this.
