I don't get why people pre-order so early. What do you serve to gain from pre-ordering two months before, rather than a week before? The way I see it, the more time I get to make a decision, the better. Of course, I will be buying Uncharted 2 and Ratchet, but there's the question of who to get it from and everything.

OH MY GOD! They have the 1812 overture playing when you fire the RYNO V in the actual game.

Do those pre-order goodies apply to Europe as well? If so, I might consider paying the extra £7 to buy it from GAME (I doubt ShopTo would have bonuses).

Europe will have a collector's edition, which will have The Discovery Package and an artbook, not sure how much it will cost though. I checked EB Australia and the price for this Collector's edition is the same as normal versions of most other PS3 games (and they don't have a price for normal version of this game yet).  Also I think each retailer in NA can only offer 1 of the 4 packages

According to wikipedia:

"It has been confirmed though, the package will simply unlock the items earlier in the game - the player can still earn these items while playing"

I couldn't find the statement from the source they provided, even if it is truth The Discovery Package is not an item but a new level, so its quite possible pre order/ collector's edition is the only way to get it. ( unless they are kind enough to throw a free DLC after a while to keep the legs going)
