TROPHIES!! My preciousss!!

:D

I need trohpies! Will there be trophies for crack in time? I just love that little "bing" [you've unlocked...] box that shows up. It gives me personal satisfaction. I feel good inside, all warm and fuzzy. If there was a trophy for runing around nude down town in real life, i'd do it in a heartbeat! :D

OT: This game franchise is soo good. I have everyone for the home consoles (not for the PSPs), but i havent downloaded Q4B yet.. didnt feel like a game that told the story. More like a dlc to give a little more game time. Or am i wrong?

1) Okay, you should probably go see a psychiatrist now.

2) Yes, Crack in Time has trophies. Trophies are compulsory for all games registered (given to ESRB to rate) after 1st January 2009.

3) It does feel more like DLC than a full game, but DLC that actually tells a story. You'll have no idea what is going on in Crack in Time without playing Quest for Booty. But I'm sorry, no trophies, or gold bolts, or even skill points. Just three difficulties and some different dialogue options to make you come back. It's also a whopping 3.2 GB. But worth it.

EDIT: I believe it's cheaper on disc, and the disc is available across Europe, so go for the disc version. The install is 4GB for some reason I can't fathom- they could copy the entire game onto the hard drive and it would be smaller than that.

I've added the GameSpot PAX 2009 Space Exploration demo.

they need to trophy patch R&C:ToD and Quest for booty, before the release of R&C:crack in time....that way people can replay the game, refresh the their memory before they get stuck into a crack in time.

R&C:ToD is a great game, one that deserves trophies, so people can display on their trophy list and be proud that such a great game is on their list, hell it may even encourage others to buy it, if they've seen it on their friends trophy list.

I don't care what people say, R&C:ToD NEEDS a trophy patch.

The thing about R&C is that you don't need trophies. With the exception of Quest for Booty, all of the Insomniac R&C games have had skill points, gold bolts, and various other collectibles like, in ToD's case, the RYNO IV holo-plans. You want to gather bolts to get better weapons, play challenge mode to get up to V10 on everything, collect all the gold bolts to unlock the skins, and get all the skill points to unlock the cheats. You don't need a little grey box to pop up in the top right- the trophies are right there in the game. And they might not boost your trophy score, but isn't that a secondary feature of trophies, the first being to keep you coming back to the game? At least, that's the way I look at it. Some of the higher ranked Trophy League members would disagree with me.

That's just it, like Uncharted, ToD has trophy like things already incorporated into the game, so it should be as easy to just associate trophies with specific ingame achivements....just like Naughty Dog did with uncharted.

I'd be one proud son of a bitch having a platinum trophy on my trophy list, people would know that I own the game, and that I beat it 100%...hell it may even encourage others to buy it.

So let me ask you this, would you not play R&C:ToD again just to get the trophies?

I'll also ask, in your own personal opinion would you like R&C:ToD to get a trophy patch?

The thing is that I would love for it to get a trophy patch, more than any other game except maybe MGS4. But I acknowledge that Insomniac have better things to do. I would rather have a ToD trophy patch than Resistance 2, but Insomniac's priority is currently (hopefully) Crack in Time.

I would happily replay it without a trophy patch. I've already beaten it twice, then started a third playthrough when I had no new games (of course, now I have new games), and I'll finish that playthrough, and maybe Quest for Booty again, just before Crack in Time launches, to remind myself of the story.

But I will admit that I'd be more inclined to go back if the skill points, gold bolts etc. gave trophies. But they will in ACiT, and I'm happy with that. Lack of trophies really isn't a reason to not buy the game, so in my opinion, just go get it. You'll get as many playthroughs as you want out of it, and you'll know you own the game. Sure, because there are no trophies, other people won't know you own the game, but if you don't buy it, nobody will know you own the game, because you won't own it.

Buy Tools of Destruction and buy Quest for Booty. You won't regret either. None of the PS2 R&Cs had trophies, right? Did that stop them from being awesome?

So, what does everyone think it will sell first week? R&C has never been a huge first week seller, so I say 300-350k.

150k worldwide, Ratchet has never had a big week.

Also about the thread to have more posts than Killzone 2 thread will be really hard. Killzone 2 was hyped 100 times more than this heck even mine Demo Killzone 2 thread had over 500 posts.

Btw: here is the thread.

I'd say 150k is reasonable. I wouldn't expect more than that though. Ratchet isn't exactly a front loaded game like MGS or Killzone 2.

I appreciate that this thread will never reach Killzone 2-level posts, but it would be nice if it could beat:

a) The Official inFamous thread. Ugh. That didn't even hit 200 posts before dying. We're almost there, and the game releases in a month and a half.

b) The LBP thread (350 posts). Easy.

c) The Demon's Souls thread. 727, growing quickly, and the game isn't even out in NA yet. This will be the only real achievable challenge. If you use the word "achievable" loosely.

Nothing's going to top the Killzone 2 thread until God of War III. I don't think even Uncharted 2 can reach that enormous level of hype. Though, looking at the Most Wanted, it's doing far better than Killzone 2 ever did...

Shame there's no multiplayer, I quite enjoyed the multiplayer in R&C 3.
