Forums - Gaming - Square Enix "Exploring" Non-Story Based DLC For Final Fantasy XIII.

If they add new dungeons and such I would download it. If it's story-wise then.. the game would feel a tad incomplete.

Damn, I miss the good old days when you bought a game, the entire game was on the disc, and new content was reserved for the sequel.

well PS3 edition might be in trouble

Their track record with DLC based on their WiiWare games is abysmal, which makes me worry about them using the same strategy on FF13

Hey, their dungeon pack DLC for MLaaK did a really great job of expanding the title's longevity, and was a pretty good value! And from what I've heard, the DLC for FFIV:TAY each has a ratio of about 1-hour playtime for each dollar spent, which if true is pretty darn good!

Just don't ask me for any other examples, please.

@noname2200

Yang's sidequest can be finished in 30 minutes.

Game should last around 25 hours or so, but $38 for a game that has profited long ago and is a cellphone port should is too much.

Should have been around MM9 price IMO.

I pray that I never see that crap done with a JRPG ever again.

Really?!

The other ones I've heard about (most notably Rydia's) made me think all the DLC was meatier than that...WTF can an RPG cover in half an hour?!

Yangs is pretty much "Go from point A to point B".

If you play it just for the storyline the game is actually pretty short. It can last pretty long if you search for the tails and other rare items, but that is only because those are the type of items that have 1/500 chance of popping up and take 2-5 hours of fighting one enemy over and over again just to get one.

So if you like tedious, the game will last you 50-60 hours. If you don't care about grabbing every chest and just want to breeze through the storyline you only need the first and last packs and it should last you around 10-12 hours. With sidequest around 20 if you go slow.

I am almost done with it and I search for all the chests, skipping the tails of course and I am around the 17 hour mark. I should finish around 25 hours or so.

Also, the sidequests are pretty much only if you want to know what the other characters were doing during the main quest with Ceodore.

The only real point to them is whether or not you want them available as party members in the final portion of the quest. They are entirely optional.

S-E tries to be slick and add bonus dungeons for you to explore after each DLC so you can find new weapons and armors, but once you start the later chapters those items end up being nothing but a waste of time because they suck bad compared to what you get later on. So you can also waste 1+ hours in those dungeons if you want.

Another thing that makes it seem long is that random encounters are incredibly frequent in this game.
