Forums - Gaming - Square Enix "Exploring" Non-Story Based DLC For Final Fantasy XIII.

is it possible for a comapny's credibility to go into the negatives?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

am hoping (praying) they keep this promise at least (non-story based).

I am finding that everything SE says, pretty much the opposite is what they do.

I almost don't care what they do. I just wish they would stop misleading us.

Nooooooooooooooooooo.

Euphoria14 was right.

Damn right! Called it weeks ago!!

Once I saw the BS they pulled with My Life as a King, My Life as a Darklord and more importantly, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, I just knew S-E has become one of "those" companies. The ones who will put sidequests, monsters, areas, etc... that years ago would have normally been a part of the game as "DLC" just to make pay more than the already high enough $60.

S-E is really, really letting me down lately.

Some DLC is great, like Fallout 3 DLC. Things like expansion packs, but sidequests and monsters? Give me a break!

Just about every Final Fantasy has that one "ULTRA BOSS" and honestly that was always one of my favorite parts of the games. I will bet that the "ULTRA BOSS" this time around will be a $4.99/400 MS point download.

Oh joy.... just what gaming needed... another developer releasing half-assed shitty value DLC to screw over ignorant consumers.

Couldn't agree more. DLC is big business. We will end up with episodic content (2 hours max.) probably next gen. So gamers kiss your full game goodbye. You will end up paying double the price. DLC is a very bad trend in the gaming industry.

I HATE DLC...

RPG are not what they used to be, im starting to hate FF XIII

Nintendo is the best videogames company ever!

Most of you need to get over. DLC is the future for industry sustainability. Heres something to keep in mind.

Console Gamer: OMG has a hardrive. PHAIL. We are going to get patches and bug fixes.
Console Gamer 9 years later: Nintendo PHAILS at not having a HDD.

Console Gamer: DLC. Never gonna touch it. Waste of time and money. Screw you company.
Console Gamer 5 years later: Ha ha Nintendo PHAILS at not having DLC.

Either way Nintendo will be having TONS of cash incoming. 5 years later Nintendo will have both as the saturation points and needs are meeting mass consumer requirements.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

So people need to accept not only paying more for their games this generation, but also accept getting less?

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is a game that they split up into numerous "DLC" and when all is said and done, it ends up costing you $38, or more specifically $40 since you can only buy Wii Points in 500/1000/2000 amounts.

A game like Fallout, which allowed you to play after completing the game, had this option removed and then later charged you an additional fee in order to get it back.

JRPGs, which have been known for god knows how long to include big optional boss battles, optional areas and tons of sidequests will now have those limited from what you used to recieve so they can be tacked on for a 'reasonable" $5-10 extra.

If that is what people need to start to getting over, then well, I hope you enjoy getting your incomplete games.

Maybe for you it isn't, but for me the initial $60 entry fee is more than enough.

The DLC will need to be something really substantial for me to feel differently, so I will wait a little longer to see what it is first. If the game ends up being very limited in terms of sidequests and optional bosses and I see that those are DLC instead, I will be quite pissed off.

I have always been one of those JRPG gamers who always over levels throughout the course of the storyline and later grinds to very high levels in order to get myself prepared that BIG optional boss battle. Like that super powered boss in FFX-2 and Ruby and Emerald Weapons in FFVII.

Inbound: $100 of DLC for FF XIII that includes everything that had to be cut out due to storage limitations of DVD.
