Casuals don't go to that site, so yeah, I'd think that WS love would be low.
It's not really a reason to stop reading Kotaku but rather a reason to ignore its posters.
Totilo is awesome. The other editors are also good, with the exception of Plunkett. That guy hates Nintendo with all his heart.
Is Plunkett the one who deliberately mis-quotes developers to make it seem like they hate the Wii? He is the reason I wrote the site off if so. It has created a couple of really funny threads here though.
What really matters is that a lot of people, also on this site, love WSR, love good motion games and love also the Wii__ series; surely on internet there's more hate against WSR than love, but this doesn't matters: outside of internet there's the real Wii's heart!
What do you expect? Kotaku is pure fratcore.
Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

Thanks man, bookmarked.
Maybe when PS3/360 get some more pick up & play games, a cross-platform site could start up.
| frybread said: I'm more just looking for a good alternative. Kotaku is nice because it's entertaining and sticks to 10 or so posts per day. But whenever they post about games I like, which is becoming more and more rare, it's laced with the old "GATHERING DUST!!!" commentary. Their writers have decided to take a stand against the evil Wii and defend narrative-based games. Sorry, I mean works of art. And that's just bad reporting. |
If it makes you feel any better they seem to hate the PS3 more than the Wii. The writing on the site is sub-par at best. Tortillo is good, but he is starting to take on some of the annoying traits of the other bloggers. Anyone read Kotaku's Demon Souls impressions (http://kotaku.com/5347901/new-demon-souls-screens-arrive-just-in-time/gallery/) It was probably the most unprofessional thing I've read. Fahey should have been fired, instead they probably high-fived him around the office.
Thanks for the input, Jeff.
2% for Wii seems low, even for a site like that. The joystiq community can be just as bad as Kotaku's, and we were able to scrounge up a 10% approval rating for Nintendo's E3 press conference (slightly apples to oranges, but it can be equated with a platform approval rating, and which is still higher, even if you factor in DS from Kotaku side)
The split on Wii Sports Resort seems fairer. 38% is a little higher than a third, and if we presume each site has built-in fanbases of proper zealots for each of the companies, you're going to get results skewed against any big exclusive for any of the three (like at least 30% voting against Gears or Uncharted)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
