SONY needs to advertise like mad.

People must see the PS3 Slim everywhere & say "Hey, I WANT that new playstation"

Here, I don't see any ads but I believe people are expecting the slim.

I checked the second-hand market this moring (eBay, Kapaza...) and they have plenty of un-sold PS3.

It has less value now, people want to pay for a new one.

well who wouldn't like a new one?

Ofcourse, but the message needs to go out to the mass market

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

During the Bears vs Broncos game last night on NBC the advertisement for Madden 10 showed only the Elite at the end and advertised the price change.

Interesting thing about the advertisement it didnt say new lower prive of $299.99. Dont remember the exact words, but it seemed to me the words left open the option for further changes soon.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Here PS3s are in one dark corner covered with spider webs and dust. Well, those are the phats. Slims are next to them covered by spiders, who are making webs undisturbed and well I haven't seen any slim ads. It almost feel like Wii & X360 are all there is.

Actually, I checked today whats the situation for real. There is no slims or even ads about them. All PS2s have been sold out and PS3(phats) & X360 shelves were full and covered with dust.

IMHO ads in Gamestop/Bestbuy don't mean anything. People usually don't go into an electronics store without knowing what they want. Well except for parents buying for their children.

"the best nexgen experience is now only $299, XBOX 360 ELITE"

Isn't the 360 part of this generation of hardware and not "nexgen"?

I think the word "xbox" and "elite" might be holding the system back. When I think of x-anything, or "elite" in regards to computer entertainment, I think of slothy jobless people sitting all day and night in front of a computer bragging to their 13 year old online friends about how much of a 1337 hardcore uber haxxor they are =P

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Uh, Best Buy is our nations largest electronics retailer and Gamestop is our nations largest video game distributor.  I would argue that advertisements in store, online, and in the paper would indeed motivate people to make up their minds as clearly that is where the majority of video game $$ goes.

Not that many people have said that over the last three years. If, all of a sudden, they're bombarded with images of the PS3 slim, they still won't want it. People need to be given REASONS to buy it, not just fancy advertising.

You must live in different country than me because last time when figma published how much every console has sold software yearly PS3 was in lead with more software sold than Wii or X360 ...Only PS2 sold more. So PS3 is selling pretty well here because PS brand is still huge in scandinavia.

nice work m$
