Forums - Gaming - The Final Fantasy XIII conspiracy: Why the controversy?

JRPG is a redundant term; almost all RPGs that matter are Japanese. The North American ones are aimed at the type of gamer who worships Starwars, dungeons and Dragons, and sits in front of his computer all night, every night.

Amen good sir, amen.

But did "targeting the American market" really work especially when making the games as 360 exclusives? Star Ocean 4 hasn't even sold half what the PS2 version did, and with its weekly numbers as low as they are now, I don't think they ever will unless its confirmed to be a multi at some point.

because so4 sucks I have no taste. thats the real problem.

I agree.

The only good jRPGs this gen have been released on the DS or PS2. Go play Persona 4 everybody it'll be better than FFXIII I promise. If you have already played it high five down low up high sup.

If people were fans of games and not hardware platforms, this sort of thing wouldn't happen. The SNES was the RPG platform. People assumed that the N64 would be the same. It wasn't. Did they A) Bitch about it for years or B)By a Playstation to play their favorite genre. We all know the answer. I hate it when there to many fanboys and not enough fans.

The reason everyone is angry is because SE made FF multi for the reason of making it available to everyone but then kept SO4 and TLR exclusive

If they want to reach a wide audience they should make all their games multi.....

Predictions

GT5 will sell 3.2million + first week on ps3 (made 06 March 2010)

FFXIII Versus will have higher Metacritic scores than FFXIII after the first month.... Bet going on with perpride - loser changes sig for a month

KH3 will be PS3 EXCLUSIVE - willing to bet removal from vgchartz for a month

Which has nothing to do with my post. I like RPGs. I bought a PS2 last gen because I am fan of the genre. The last console I bought last gen was the Xbox because it had no RPGs and I only bought it because my best friend showed me KOTOR, an RPG, and I wanted to get my hands on it.
