    Do you think Capcom is entirely happy with the sales of Monster Hunter 3 on Wii or do you think they might think they could have done a bit better by putting it on one or both of the hd consoles instead?

 

You seem to be looking at this as though MHFU sold all 3.72 million units in the first month of sale.

 

As for the western release, Nintendo will again be providing major  support which may include bundles, new colorsm advertising and such so a solid sell through in the west is highly probable.

MHF on PSP did alright compared to MHF2 but that's what kick started things for the handheld. Maybe we'll see a similar trend with the Wii games.

To be fair, it would have sold about the same maybe a litle less on the PS3.

I seriously doubt that. It outsold every PS3 game's lifetime Japanese sales by the end of its 2nd week... it's hard to argue it would have done better on PS3. It's also by far the best selling 3rd party console game this gen, and likely to double MGS4's lifetime Japanese sales or more.

It's obvious Capcom made the right decision by releasing this game the console with the bigger user base and will make way more money due to lesser devolopment cost, but I really think this game would have been huge no matter if itson the Wii or PS3, it's one of the biggest franchises right now in Japan thanks to the PSP.

BTW, I am getting sick of people calling this game a bomb, that's just crazy talk.

I have to agree with psrock: while I think the lower dev costs of the Wii mean that Capcom's making more money off a game that demonstrably isn't really about HD graphics, if they HAD put the title on the PS3 (or even 360), it would be doing about as well right now (or only a smidgen worse). I think Monster Hunter just has a very devoted core fanbase in Japan by now, moreso than nearly every other franchise.

There's a very good reason why Nintendo's made this game a target of moneyhats, especially in light of how they almost never do that nowadays.

Mwhahaha excellent Once this game hits 3 million Monster hunter 4 will become a wii excluesive. And the portiables are next.

I would bet they are, anyway. I mean, the game was somewhat of an unknown quantity, given that it was the first new console game after the series really hit it's stride, it would have been a bit of an unknown quantity on the other consoles, too.
